Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am not really concerned about being cheated, but when the business manager checked on it for me this morning she said the salesperson had indicated in my folder the discount was less than he actually told me.

I ordered over the phone from a salesperson who was recommended here by more than one person.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I placed my order almost a month ago and have not received any contract or documentation from the dealer.
I have been assured everything is in order by the salesperson and business manager, but I find this kind of strange. They are apparently waiting to receive some type of printout back from Porsche.
At what point in your order cycle did your car become an "accepted order" by Porsche?
When did you receive a contract and other documentation?
Actually no. I ordered over the phone from a salesperson who was recommended here by more than one person. The dealer has an excellent reputation.
The salesperson is off this week, so I spoke to the business manager. According to her everything is in order. Strange huh?
I forgot? Did you order from Paul Householder at Champion? If so, he's got a pretty good reputation. In fact
sales
at Champion is pretty solid...relatively speaking.
ohsixx, are you expecting to be able to sit in your 03 on Septmber 1, and you ordered it late May, and the factory is pretty much on vacation in August? Wow, that's fast.
Don: I am going to take it on the day it arrives. I agree it will probably not be in my garage on Sept 1st, but maybe later in the month or early October. I am very use to waiting.
Jim: That is what I would have expected to happen in my case. I am not really concerned about being cheated, but when the business manager checked on it for me this morning she said the salesperson had indicated in my folder the discount was less than he actually told me. So, I am looking forward to talking with him sometime soon.
I reserved the first 2003 996TT allocation from my dealer (a high volume So Cal dealership) on February 23, 2002. The dealer was not able to order the car at that time.
On May 1, 2002, my dealer advised me that it was now able to order my car. On May 2, 2002, my dealer faxed me a computer generated order, which I signed and returned. I was told that my car would likely be built in July and delivered during August.
During June 2002, I modified the order (added headrest crests) without any problem. On June 13, 2002, my dealer faxed me a new computer generated order, which I signed and returned.
I haven't heard anything about the actual build or completion date. However, upon reading Felker's post and learning that he has a build/completion date for a 2003 model, I promptly contacted my dealer. They are supposed to get back to me later today.
I just spoke with my dealer. Like Felker, my estimated completion date is also August 26, 2002. The computer was apparently updated yesterday. Thanks Felker for the info.
The first 2003 996TTs are apparently not being built during July, as originally forecast. Does anyone know what caused the delay?
The August 26 completion date strikes me as a bit odd given that the factory shuts down for a portion of August. Does anyone know the precise dates when the factory is closed? How long does it take to build a 996TT? The factory can't be closed too far into August if Porsche is going to complete production of cars on August 26.

While the factory does close (not completely) throughout the month of August, some cars are still manufactured during this period.
Based on all of the info presented here, I guess October is a best case for me. My order was placed into the system on June 3rd.
Actually, I do not mind waiting as it gives me something to think about. Meanwhile, I am still tooling around in a incredibly fast car.
I too, ordered from Paul at Champion. We agreed on the price on April 30 and on May 1 I received a fax with my accepted order from PCNA and a cover page stating the agreed price for the car. My car is an 02 coupe that had a June build date, but the estimated completion date as of last week was July 8th. I gave a credit card deposit, so I have the bill as a receipt.
Jim
Another "encouraging" note. A freind who, last week, was given a July 6th build date for his C4S (2002) was told yesterday that the car is built, and on its way to the USA.
In order to further save money Porsche uses part time workers imported from Kosovo and Croatia to assemble their cars during their shutdown period. They also use the salaried office help out in the plant as well....so good luck!!

How high are car dealers on your list of "most respected institutions"?

I used to look at them as Snake oil merchants looking for that sucker, heh-heh-heh. One of my early experiences invloved a Mazda dealer in NYC. After extensive, and I mean EXTENSIVE research on where to spend the paltry amount of money I had, I put a deposit down on a 626, for delivery in 2 weeks, at an excellent discount. One week later, MT declared it Car of the Year. Well, wouldn't you know, my car fell off the truck and got totaled, but they had the exact same car that now had dealer paint and fabric protector, rust prevention, etc, that I could get, but no discount. Too young to know about suing the ba####ds, I went across the street and bought a Scirroco. I still had my research, I told them I was buying that car in the showroom for $100.00 over invoice right now, to be delivered in 24 hours. I started to walk out as the salesman said he needed to have it approved by his boss and he was risking getting fired just bringing it up. He had me sign just as I opened the door to get out. Turned out he WAS the boss. Heh-heh-heh. Ba####ds.
Have come across several sincere fellows since then, but I always have my guard up.
I just spoke to a guy in the biz and he reports that 2003s are being delivered to customers in Europe. He has a customer who just took delivery of a 2003 GT-2 in Europe.

Actually, I am more disappointed now than ever before regarding my attempt to order a car.
Since last week the salesman's answering machine contains a message that he is out indefinitely.
My attempts to reach the sales manager have been unsuccessful. The dealership's hours of operation are basically 8:00AM to 6:00PM, but no one was available to answer my questions today at 4:00PM.
I just think it is very sloppy business to agree upon a deal, accept a discount, and not follow-up with some written sales documentation.
Something better happen shortly or I will be contacting the Better Business Beaura and requesting return of my deposit.
