Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Based on my C4S test drive, I would say that the M Coupe is more raw than the Porsche.
Leading evidence: 'Test drive, i would say' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test drive, i would say' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Gus!
I'd love to answer properly, but I have not taken delivery of my new C4S yet.
We do really like the M Coupe.
We replaced a 98 M Roadster and enjoy the additional power the larger motor provided. It also has a slightly different exhaust note over the prior model.
Based on my C4S test drive, I would say that the M Coupe is more raw than the Porsche. The C4S had more sophistication at low speed, yet snarled as you stepped on the accelerator and provided much more of a get up and go feeling.
I can let you know more after I take delivery sometime in the next couple of weeks.
If I may butt in this private tete-'e-tete, the recent issue of Evo (don't know if it's current) had the M Coupe and C4S thrown in with Z06, Tuscan and NSX for a comparison test.
Thanks for the info. I used to autocross my father's 993C2S and 996C2, but never had a chance to drive a C4. I took the M Coupe as it was similar performance, raw & challenging (something I personally like), at half the price! My next car will either be a 911 or M5 (I need rear seats, especially with twins on the way
).
Now to see if I can find that Evo article.... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />
Nothing private here!
You "butt in" anytime you'd like Palting. BTW I did catch the article in Evo and agree with what the writers had to say based on my limited experience with my "dream car".
Just thought I'd add that the M Coupe is the "wife's" car. The C4S will be my car!
I convinced her that she needed a new car first and then began to "grease the skids" for my planned Porsche purchase. After the dealer took her for a test drive in an 02 Cab, she removed all restrictions except selling the 00 740i Sport. I ordered the C4S and listed the 740 the same day (March) and the rest is history!
I had the chance to sample an M-Coupe not long ago. It was quite a beast!!! A used, 320bhp one is definitely something to look into once I tire of the C4.
my wife drives a 3.oi z3 coupe that we are both very fond of.
it does not have the raw power of our c4s but it is a quick, very well balanced coupe and a real bargain at $35k on the road! it has also been very reliable for the first 12k miles. i suspect not many boxter owners can say the same even though they paid $15 more.
i also prefer the way a coupe feels arond corners over any convertible <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" /> <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />
