Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Unless the radio was replaced, there is no reason to pull it, since PCA keeps a database of all S/N;s of parts used in the manufacture of the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there a way to find out your code without taking the car into the dealer? The code is not in any of the manuals and dealer is a long ride.

POST 2Original post

You can call your dealer if you know your radio serial number. If it's not written down somewhere then you will need to remove the radio to read it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it hard to remove the factory receiver? Does it involve ripping apart the entire dashboard? Any good sites with pictures on how it's done?

POST 4Original post

Very simple all you need are the two keys (under $2.00 from Becker). Where are you located? Perhaps someone close can loan you the keys. (photo courtesy of Tom in Sunol, CA)

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, but I'm the other coast, NH. I'll order those keys from Becker then, that's too simple! Do you think this will work to get a new receiver? "Honey, the factory radio doesn't work because no one knows the security code....looks like I'll have to buy a new receiver"

POST 6Original post

You don't have to remove the unit. The dealer can get the codes from PCNA, all you need to provide the owner is a copy of title/registration to prove ownernership to PCNA (a formality). I needed the PCM and NAV codes for my car (lost cards) and got them within 24 hours thru my dealer. Hope this helps

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lewis, who's your dealer? I spoke with Ira Porsche and they want me to drive down from NH for them to pull the radio out to get the code. Screw that! Thanks for the info.

POST 8Original post

Hi clk93, IRA Porsche is my dealer. I called service (spoke to a very nice young lady, can't remember her name) and I faxed her a copy of my registration/title that morning(I assume to prove that I still owned the car) and she forwarded it to PCNA in Atlanta. She then left me a voice mail later that afternoon with both the PCM and NAV codes. Unless the radio was replaced, there is no reason to pull it, since PCA keeps a database of all S/N;s of parts used in the manufacture of the car. It is easier for the dealer to just pull a S/N off a radio I guess; however I did not want the PCM and NAV units removed for something as simple as this. Good Luck
