Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would appreciate any procedural direction in replacing the standard issue plastic door sills in my 02 996 with the stainless ones as depicted above. Thanks, Richard

POST 2Original post

Richard, It's easy. I just replaced mine with "GT3" stainless ones. They are put on with 3 strips of double sided tape about 3/4 of the length of the entire sill. On each end there is thin double sided tape to hold it down as well. The old ones will just pull off. Buy some adhesive remover to get the residual off of your vehicle. Have fun.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the suggestions. So far I got the old sills & adhesive off with brute force and 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner w/plastic putty knife, respectively. The adhesive removal required a lot of patience doing it this way. The results looks clean, no paint scratching. Tomorrow, I'll attach the SS Carrera sill plates. Thanks again, Richard
