yes, if your guy is dependable, this is the best way to buy used cars.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone know a 996 for sale within driving distance from New Jersey. Looking to spend in the low 30k range. Any leads would be appreciated.
thanks
Glenn
There's a place named carsdirect.com that lists Porsche's on ebay all the time. In fact, they just sold 2 911's that would have been right in your price range:
1 green/tan 99 c2 w/49k for 30,700
2 blue/blk 99 c2 coupe 25 k for 33,400
I have to tell you the blue coupe was a SWEET car! They get them all the time, and they are just outside of Philly. Good Luck in your search
Yes, I look on autotrader every day. Most of the ads are expireed and the car has been sold months ago, or the car is a tip, or the car has a great price but is a piece of junk.
If you don't mind a '99 with the tiptronic transmission, I have a black 996 with about 60k miles right in your range. Post back here with contact info if you are interested. I hope to move into a cabrio this summer. Thanks.
Try Craigs list. That is how I found mine.
Even if you had to drive the car back 6 to 8 hours it would be worth it to find "the right one". You will be investing allot of money so you want to make sure you get exactly what you want, not to compromise just because its "close".
They sold both of these with "no reserve" on ebay. Click on "completed listings" and you can see what every auction for that model ended at and which ones ended in a sale. The one's with green numbers are the ones that sold.
Glen,
I am hooked up with a large volume wholesaler located in Stamford CT. Who will buy for you at wholesale at dealer only auction for a small fee.
These are cars comming off lease that Porsche financial and others unloasd to dealers thatis how they get most of there inventory .They have detailed condition reports with full disclosure. We have bought many clean cars this way.
You can save thousands ,and best of all you will have hundreds of cars to choose from so you get what you want and you decide how much you are willing to pay. This is done online all over the country.
If you are interesed send me a PM.
Elliot
Elliot,
quick question, any reason those lease-returns ended-up in auction, not CPO from the dealer? is this because they all have some stories? to my understanding, the CPO retail price and auction price are as diff. as day and night.
Cars comming off lease usually have a high residual value ,too high for the leasee or the dealer to buy.(the goal is to lease you a new car)
The leasing company most times is insured for the difference of that residual and the price it will go for at a dealer auction. So off it goes to the auction and the same dealers who turned it down , can buy it for much less. That is how they get most of their used car inventory.BTW they can make more on a used on one than new.
There are all grades of cars in that auction and the price is reflected in condition and miles. Remember these are proffessionals who are bidding.
When the dealer buys a clean one he puts it through an inspection with guidelines from Porsche before he can certify it. This adds about $3-4k to the price of the car besides his normal mark up. It is kind of an insurance policy and it helps the dealer sell cars at a higher price then competion. Not a bad thing just the way it works.
This is the stuff they don't want you know.
Elliot
I always like buying from a dealer if you can get a good car and a fair price. Particularly if you plan to service it there (if it's CPO and warrantied), the relationship is good to foster in case you ever have any real problems.
Glenn,
I gues that lead didnt work out...be patient and dont buy on impulse.
