I replaced my factory stock console with the carbon fiber one.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Someone reported that it is possible to get the rear console in carbon fiber.
I think it is in the Tequipment, but is it possibe to order it stock from the factory and how much?
For '02, it was part of the $8325 "Full Carbon Interior Package" P45. For '03, you can order it as an individual option XMJ "Rear Center Console in Carbon." The price is yet to be announced.
Your dealer has a "preliminary" 2003 order guide without prices. The final one is due to be out anytime. I suggest you stay in touch with your dealer for more details.
This is a case where Porsche aftermarket maybe less expensive. I think you can get the factory carbon fiber console for about $820 US and installaion is about 1.5 hours.

The piece is actual carbon fiber, hence the cost. Looks... WOW I have it in my current car, and ordered it in my new one too. If you want, I can take a picture and email it to you.

Ed,
I think you are incorrect about the composition of the carbon fiber piece, or at least maybe we're getting hung up on semantics. I replaced my factory stock console with the carbon fiber one. If you've ever had the carbon fiber console out of the car I think you would be able to tell that it is actually a laminate.....that is carbon fiber bonded to plastic. If it were really carbon fiber it would be much lighter than the stock console, and it's not. But it is a beautiful piece, nonetheless, and I love the way it looks in my car.

I believe Mike is correct. In general (i.e, there might be one or two exceptions), the carbon fiber kits are much the same as the wood kits -- pieces of material (wood or carbon fiber) are laminated onto another material. In other words, again, in general, Porsche's street car carbon fiber actually adds weight to the car as it is another layer of material.
Clarification... its not pure carbon fiber, but it is actual carbon fibers in resin laminated to plastic underpieces, this is compared to photo laminates which are typically found in kits and lower end cars. They do not actually contain any carbon. The best piece to look at is the edge of the ashtray. It is a clean cut and gives you a great view of the laminate. Regardless, its light years ahead of the crap that you find in the aftermarket.
