Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

30 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just curious if the 911 is th eonly hobby. I try to fit boating & golf into the weekend but just not enough time. Would like to see any pics of boat / 911 combo's

POST 2Original post

No pics on-hand, but I have a 27' C&C sloop that I keep down in the Chesapeake. Right about this time of year I'm not sure what I miss most -- boating or the track?? What boat do you have Ron and where do you keep it? I've decided that golf is not on my top 2 priority list of hobbies, I'll always be a terrible golfer and that's just fine with me!

POST 3Original post

I'd love to say it's my boat, but that's a lie

POST 4Original post

I have a Catalina 22 in slip at the lake by my house. It's kinda fun but there is no question about which is more fun. The track is way better. But chillen on the boat when it's super hot out is nice too.

POST 5Original post

I'm not sure which is more fun. In terms of a pure adrenalin rush, sailing has racing beat. I've never been offshore but the Chesapeake can get quite treacherous, and I often sail single-handed. While driving you can back off, while sailing, you can't escape the weather. In both, you have to trust yourself. In driving you have to focus on what's ahead, and not what you just messed up. In sailing, you have to take things as they come. If the wind doesn't blow the right direction, then you have to go the wrong direction to get where you want to go. If your mast falls off, you have to deal with it, because what are the options??? Driving you always have the option of pulling off. In sailing, there are very few outs.

27' Fountain ... 96 mph. 540 blower motor w/800 hp and 800 torque.

POST 8Original post

Other passion is boating. Formula 31 PC, cruising south shore of Long Island to Newport RI

POST 9Original post

Boats are another good way of spending money! We have a Cobalt 190, Triumph 170 and hand-built Chestnut cedar-strip canoe in Ontario and a Hydra-Sports 170 in the FL Keys. My favorite boating method is idle speed looking at water and all that is in and around it. Cheers

POST 10Original post

Westsail 32, cutter, bought new in '77 . just finished a complete refit including new Yanmar diesel, Glacier Bay refer unit and Icom SSB. in Key West headed for the Abacos. Off shore passegmaking is as addicting as a P-car in the twisties

POST 11Original post

Boats and Porsches my whole life, can't live without at least one of each. Although I did forego a two porsche garage to live on the water.

POST 12Original post

Waterskiing is much more fun than driving a Porsche. My kids both solomon and barefoot and they both love it....which makes it the best for a Dad. And of course....we have always had the best sking boats made...Mastercraft.

POST 13Original post

Cobalt 23 for lake cruising. Maristar 230 for wakeboarding and general watersports. Kawasaki 1100STXDi for play. SeaDoo 4-tec Supercharged for faster play.

POST 14Original post

Nautiques are better than Mastercraft and MB Sports are even better than those.

POST 15Original post

I have to agree that living on the lake is a great way to raise kids. My kids are off in college but they loved to slalom and barefoot when they were growing up. Me too! However, it's been a long time since Mastercraft could claim to be the best. We've had a Malibu for years. Can't seem to wear it out. Jim

POST 16Original post

what's great about boating, whether large motor or sailboat is that by comparison, it makes 911 ownership appear darn reasonalble....I once got a $50k (CAD) quote for a complete set of 3DL sails for my Jeanneau 39 sailboat....boat is gone now...maybe that's how I was able to afford a 996.

POST 17Original post

surprise me somebody at rennlist ask about boats ... i love boats since my twenties ... i am 42 now .. my current boat shown here. Striker 44. Aluminum . 8V71 TT xtremelly reliable and strong. it is under a 2 years rebuilding process right now. i sandblasted to the core and remade all the damn thing. new all. will post pictures someday if you are interested .... !!! excuse bad english ... eloy

POST 18Original post

Sweet.....what do you usually catch, sailfish, marlin ?

POST 19Original post

I'm always happiest when out in the deep blue.... When I have to be on land... Driving My Pcar sure makes it bearable...

POST 20Original post

what i catch .. ? nothing !!!!!!!!!!! i dont fish !!! can you belive that ... ?? i like to cruise , and these boats are battle units .. you can ride almost any sea with them ... i plan to learn later this year ---- so i can talk properlly about that "activity" .... Porsche is nice on land ... Boats are more familiar and great for weekends ...

POST 21Original post

It's either cars, bikes or sailing (have a C & C 40), Can't wait for the spring, then the tough decision is whether to take the Turbo or the Harley to the boat. In the real lotto of life I'm pretty lucky and am grateful.

POST 22Original post

Ahh, another C&C guy! For me its either "Do I put all of my crap in the 911, or just take the truck....ah, screw it the dinghy motor fits in the 911"

POST 23Original post

14' Boston Whaler for fishing and a dinghy 20' MasterCraft w/330 hp Corvette LT-1 for skiing/wakeboarding 34' Bavaria for cruising

POST 24Original post

I have a Rinker Fiesta Vee 266 by the dc waterfront. Planning on selling it in the spring. Awesome boat- but I like p-cars better

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seems like more sailboaters than power, suprisingly, I thought I would see alot of highpower speedboats owners. I have a 2003 36" Sea Ray for cruisng and overnights in LI Sound or to Newport, RI. Have the same problem of not packing the gear in the 911 and taking the truck instead. Have to change that or leave it all at boat Here is a pic on the day I picked it up last year

POST 26Original post

*14 foot all aluminum boat. got it free... hahahahaha - You know "bigger better" a game where you go door to door getting bigger and better items after starting with a penny? well I went from a penny to a 14 foot aluminum boat. no engine, oars, trailer, or PFDs - so it sits by the side of the parent's house, waiting for when i pick up that hobby

POST 27Original post

MB splashed MC hulls, not a good brand IMO. CC, MC, Malibu are the top tier ski boat products. I run Fountains mostly but have some other go fasts. We ran 100+ Jan 1, 2006. It was a great way to break the new year! Here's a 35 that tops 119 mph.

POST 28Original post

The speedo from my 32 on New Years Day. Both of these boats are for sale. I've also got a clip of our 32 skater running 170 but don't know how to load it.................................

POST 30Original post

You guys with the cobalts are smart, that the best quailty boat out there. I was looking at a sundeck but decided not to get a boat at this time. I just don't have the time to use it yet, but it will be one of the first things I get when I retire. I love that Searay as well, though I would go for only 42' and up. The 36' is just to small. But now your in the price range of a decent house. So in my case as it is now, deciding over of boat or house I'll go with the house.
