Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was putting a coat of was on my new toy this evening. While working on the hood I was removing product from around the emblem on the hood. The emblem moved. It didn't come completely off, just rotated about 20 degrees. My quesion is, how is the emblem attached to the hood? Is there an alignment pin, or is it just adhesive? If mine moves I'm thinking I need to remove it & re-attach it.
Thanks in advance.
It's held on to the hood by two pins and spring washers. Just check out the underside of the hood. Should see two recessed holes where you can tighten the washers.
Also don't close the hood by pushing on the hood emblem. There is no support under it. It will develop an upward curve, like a potato chip, and you can also damage the hood.
Everyone should watch that Hurley Heywood "welcome" video about the various need to know features of the 996! Fun to watch, and, informative.
Video #33 in the 996 section!

I went out this evening to tighten down my hood emblem. I was able to tighten 1 nut, but the other one just spins. Is that how you-all's emblems are (loose on the hood if you push on it) or should it be tight and I need a new one?
Thanks.
Should be tight. Take the nuts off and check the posts on the rear of the emblem. If they are both there put it back on with new nuts. If not see post 6 of this thread.
And,,,,, wear lint free natural cotton clean gloves on both hands with a wrist groundstrap while standing on rubber floor mat while wearing special arch support rubber soled shoes, (make sure your facing East while doing this), and you should be OK with no damage. Good luck!
Shoe soles have to be conductive and mat has to be graphite impregnated for proper grounding if it is on concrete. If it is on tiles the mat needs a ground strap also... All of this is only good if the RH is above 50%.
Hopefully one or more of you subscribed to this thread...
I tried loosening the nuts on the back of my hood emblem & they just spin. I also tried tightening them, but they never get very tight and the emblem remains loose. I'm guessing I need a new emblem and the posts are stripped.
Am I going to need to break the emblem in order to get it off? Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Break the "nuts" before trying to break the posts. If you look at them they are just hollow, sheet metal speed nuts. No threads on the nuts or the emblem. If you can get a grip on them with locking pliers and pull away from the hood as you turn them they should dig in and unscrew. You can crush them with the pliers also, be careful not to scratch/dent the inside of the hood

Thanks. Guess I'd better have a replacement emblem on hand.
I'm thinking about having my hood re-sprayed as there is a minor amount of paint missing under the emblem and it would clear up any existing rock chips. Black shows blemish !
