I had also cleaned the pullys out of the old belt/road dirt debris build up.
Leading evidence: 'Clean also' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Over the years I've replaced the belt several times and never had that problem.

Just recently I replaced my serp belt at a Porsche dealer and after on cold startup Ive noticed that the belt made noise for like 30 seconds and then it went away.

Suggestion
I think I would run the car as normal and keep checking back on it.

I hope you checked all pulleys and idlers while the belt was off?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While I was doing all the recent work on my car, I also installed a Continental Serpentine belt (which is what Pelican supplied), as mine was still the original Porsche branded 11+ year old one. It had a number of cracks, was stretched some and drying out. The back side was smooth as a babys butt. It screeched when it got wet at all, and had a consistent belt noise.
The new Conti has a far more rubber grippy feel to it (of course), the back side is hatch textured, and the tensioner is pulled in quite a bit more, so I assume the tension is better. I had also cleaned the pullys out of the old belt/road dirt debris build up. All is good, and it has that quieter, "soft belt" sound to it, except for a slightly audible "whump" once every belt rotation. It exactly matches when the lettering passes the same spot, so it is not a pulley or anything like that, but something once every belt rotation. I assume either the seam on the backside where the texturing changes slightly is making the noise, or perhaps there is a stiffness change in the belt where the seam is. It is not noticeable at all in the car, or even really with the hood closed, just when the engine is in idle and the hood is open. Anyone else run across this and did it go away after enough miles? Just curious....
I did mine about 15000K back but did not notice any noise coming from the new belt. Mind you I didn't listen specifically for a noise as such. Was the noise quite an obviouse noise or do you have to have the lid open plus your ears pinned back in order to hear it? I think I would run the car as normal and keep checking back on it. Hope all works out well for you.
New or used?
It's not like "What the heck is THAT noise?" kind of noise, and you would not notice it unless you were checking everything over after you did it to make sure nothing was rubbing or wobbling etc. Like i said, can't really hear it if the engine compartment is closed and that's pretty open in reality. It's there for sure, not like a "You don't hear that? Seriously?" kind of thing, just a constant whump....whump....whump...exactly one belt rotation. . Like I said, I'm not worried, but you know, spend $30 on a belt and you sort of expect it to be silent. Be nice if there was a way to rev the engine while you are at the engine...
I replaced mine about 500 miles ago, and my old belt was slightly worn, and just starting to get little cracks, etc. I replaced it with the OEM belt from suncoast, and did not notice any additional noise, and I made sure to listen to it for awhile after it was running. I would say it is not normal, and would either send it back and get another one, and would buy OEM, just in case. Just my .02.
Cheers,
DS
You could get your wife or child to slightly rev the engine for you as you are at the rear. That wouldn't solve anything though.
I think I would remove the belt and have a real good look at it. There has to be something wrong with the belt. Then again, why does it thump as the writing comes into view. I mean it has to go over about 4 other pulleys so if the fault is behind the writing on the belt, shouldn't it thump everytime it goes over a wheel? That says its ONE wheel at fault. While its off, turn all the wheels you can get your mitts on and wobble them about if you can. You may find a wobbly or over noisy one.
It's not the pulleys. The belt is like 6 feet long, and every pulley rotates multiple times for each revolution of the belt. I was pointing out that I know it is a belt revolution thing because the slight noise ocurs exactly at the same time I see the writing pass the e exact same spot. I'll let it settle a few more miles and see.
Over the years I've replaced the belt several times and never had that problem. Odds are the belt won't get any better because it is a bad belt. The seam has a bulge/lump in it.
Bad belt.
Just recently I replaced my serp belt at a Porsche dealer and after on cold startup Ive noticed that the belt made noise for like 30 seconds and then it went away. I was going to take it back to the dealer for them to check it out but it went away.
I think Mac is right. I did some spirited driving and put about 60 miles on her yesterday. (I seriously love driving this car). Still sounds exactly the same. Can't hear it over the engine noise at all if you put any revs on it, but the instant it's back to idle it's there. Though I seriously doubt there is any anger associated with it, my experience has been like others. Silence. I guess it will be an emergency spare (yeah right). I'd return it, but I bought it at Pelican over a year ago when I added it to an order of other parts to get free shipping, knowing that I would replace it in the near future. There's a waste of 30 bucks.
