Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The audi V8 sounds fantastic especially at 8250 rpm redline - and the dsg s-tronic box is a delight to use on the track.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got to drive the RS5 & R8 4.2 V8 around a wet track at Sonoma Raceway today. The audi V8 sounds fantastic especially at 8250 rpm redline - and the dsg s-tronic box is a delight to use on the track. Balance of the R8 in the turns is nice - but even though there is lots of power, ultimately it is not as fun as my 996 - mainly due to lack of steering feel versus the Porsche. Makes me appreciate the bang for the buck of the 996 even more.
Interesting...I often think that I'd like to sell my 996 and replace it with something else, however most possible replacements fall short when I actually test them. At least in terms of improvements vs. the cost to upgrade...the 996 is very hard to beat for the price.
Unfortunately, I purchased my 996 many moons ago, before the steep price depreciation...but even knowing what I know now, I'd purchase my 996 again in a heartbeat...
As you may have seen in another post, I just did an exotic car driving experience on the track last week. I drove a Ferrari 458 Italia and an Audi R8 V10. They were both very fast. One of the cars that was available to drive was a 997 C2S. I opted not to drive that one, because I am fortunate enough to drive a Porsche every day. Out if my group of 10 people, I turned in the fastest lap of the day in the Ferrari. The second fastest lap (only 2/10ths of a second behind me) was registered by my friend in the C2S. Despite the power disadvantage of nearly 200 HP, the C2S was still very competitive with high dollar exotica.
I realize that the 996 gives up a little HP compared to the 997, but I suspect that the 996 wouldn't be too far off in terms of performance on the track. That's pretty impressive for a car that can be purchased for less than $30K.
Agreed, the driver is the most important piece. That being said, the fact that the Porsche is even in the conversation is impressive.
I actually drove the Ferrari first, followed by the Audi. I wish I had gotten a chance to drive the Ferrari second, after I started to feel more comfortable with the track. That thing was really fast - almost violent.
