Reported cause
I was losing coolant mysteriously and it turned out to be a crack in one of my AOS connections.
Leading evidence: 'crack in one of my aos connections' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'crack in one of my aos connections' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check hoses and around the fittings again carefully' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

No drips or crusting anywhere, new tank last year (installed by porsche), one of the rad hoses replaced by porsche earlier and an -04 cap.
Replace caps, kept flipping the wire thing, and keep

I changed caps, kept flipping the wire thing, and keep filling the tank up to the max line.

The tank was changed in may of last year, I assume that porsche vacuumed the air out.

Tightened those down and I haven't been lost any after 600-800 miles over thanksgiving.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys,
wanted to get couple more opinions before I have the system pressure tested. My car is disappearing coolant at very slow rate - from max to min (cold) in like a month of occasional driving and I can't seem to find the leak. No drips or crusting anywhere, new tank last year (installed by porsche), one of the rad hoses replaced by porsche earlier and an -04 cap.
I've got another cap on the way just to be sure, but are there any other common areas? I don't see anything leaking on the rads.
Check the hoses and around the fittings again carefully. I had the same issue, and it was a bad hose/hose fitting that was dripping coolant around the exhaust and burning it off. It had passed pressure tests etc, prior to the mechanic at Bellevue Porsche tracking down the leak.
I have/had a phantom leak too. I changed caps, kept flipping the wire thing, and keep filling the tank up to the max line. I spent a very long time with this routine, till I just let it be. My coolant level sits just above minimum, and hasn't moved since last summer.
the picture above show the cap part number end in .00 which is an earlier version. They had an .01, and .04 after the .00 version in the blue. Black may be a 997 part number
That's not a pic of my car, I have the 04 cap.
I've got the car recently, so far it's been losing the coolant fairly consistently.
The tank was changed in may of last year, I assume that porsche vacuumed the air out.
I was losing coolant mysteriously and it turned out to be a crack in one of my AOS connections. The coolant would burn off or evaporate before it ever dripped to the ground or where I could see it. A pressure test should help identify the source of the leak(s).
I think it's a double negative on that. New evidence has come to light. My new black cap is very difficult to install & I think I have found out why.

Yeah Ditto for me, I just assumed the poor thread fit to my tank was due to the decline in quality control for Porsche replacement parts. When I have the time I will try to find where I bought this blau "black" (market) cap I tell them what I think about bait & switch marketing. I am tied up at the moment with a simular but more serious issue with a URO lower control arm central bushing slipping out of position!
Ditto, ordered the cap just to be sure. I will take the airbox out and check for leaks by the the tank connectors and AOS. The motor is from 2006 and only has ~60k on it; I would be surprised if there was something cracked on it already.
Figured I'd bump it, got a new coolant cap and it looks like the coolant level is staying steady (at least so far, knock on wood). It's likely the old cap was damaged, as I didn't get the "click" feel when it's in the + position. The new one (also -04 part number) clicks every time it's lined up.
Final bump, I was still loosing a bit of coolant even after the cap. Ended up finding two hard line to rubber connections that had a bit of crusting on them (by the oil pan and by the water pump under the airbox). Tightened those down and I haven't been lost any after 600-800 miles over thanksgiving.
