Oh, and reconnect MAF, I forgot that part and threw CEL right after I finished...it's the little things.

1st Question....( you knew this was coming ) Should I use a sealant glue in addition to the gasket for safety or should I rely on the gasket alone?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yesterday while swapping wheels and tires (another story
) noticed a nice puddle of coolant on the floor and drops of coolant on the lower water pump bolts. So I'm changing the pump this morning, luckily I purchased a pump and gasket during the fall while I had a very good discount.
I've tackled several DIY repairs on the car and I'm looking forward to this today...
Any words of advice are greatly welcome.
Removing and reinstalling the hoses is the most difficult part. If you can find a hose removal wrench it will save you a lot of aggravation.
Not talking the clamps either but the hoses themselves.

Once you get the old pump out, most of the hard work is over. One of the bolts (top right) on the WP was a bit of a pain in the **** to put back in as I recall, but other than that, Congrats! Don't forget to put the burp valve up for a few miles once you refill coolant. Oh, and reconnect MAF, I forgot that part and threw CEL right after I finished...it's the little things.
I wish I could but I've been so busy at work that this is my first time on Renn since this morning. Would have been nice to take the tie off on such a beautiful day. But I'll have to wait for the next time.
This nice weather also allowed me to wash my car for the first time in a month this past Saturday. So glad since it was still dirty with autocross and airport parking lot grime.
Done. Went for a long warmup drive and a few 6k RPM dashes and all looks well. Leak is gone. Letting it sit over night when everything cool down and contracts we will see if an additional leaks show up.
Hey,
I changed the WP and the coolant back in the summer. As you wrote it's a pretty simple repair. Don't be alarmed if it takes a few cycles of hot / cold engine to properly get the right amount of coolant back into the engine.

Yes but it takes longer to get all of the air pockets out. You have to burp the system for days afterwards and expect some volcanic eruptions every so often.
