Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a zip tie on my switch that I installed 6 or 7 years ago.
Leading evidence: 'Install 6 or 7 years ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install 6 or 7 years ago' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is there any reason that the clutch switch should be impacted by cold weather?
When I get in the car, put the clutch down, turn the key, nothing happens. If I turn the key again, nothing happens. If I let the clutch out, push it down (hard) again, turn the key - starts right up.
I can almost guarantee that it will happen if temps are <40 degrees, but it almost never does this when it's >55 degrees. I can't think of any reason that the cold would have that kind of impact though...
Living in the Pacific NorthWest (not so Great White North except at altitude), I seem to have noted the same attitude from my clutch switch. I use it as Daily Driver, rain or shine.
I have to push harder in the floor than in the summer to make sure it allows engine starts. The average temp right now on Vancouver Is. is between 4 to 7C (40 to 45F).
I wish a normal clutch depression would allow starting the car but Porsche wants you to make bloody sure that clutch is fully depressed before contact is made. A bit of an exageration in my point of view.
I wish there would be an adjustment permissible on that clutch/switch arrangement so you didn't have to push it that deep. Any one knows?
Thanks for sharing/raising the point!
Yes, there's small adjustment you can make. The hole on the switch where the bolt goes through is actually oval that allows alignment before you tighten it down.
Just get a new switch if it's questionable. It's only $10 or so and can be changed in 5min.
I have a zip tie on my switch that I installed 6 or 7 years ago. I still tend to push in the clutch by habit. I think the switch is just a safety measure so that if the car is left in gear it doesn't lurch.
