Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

any ideas where to start looking. The fuse is good. Car is new to me and was this way when I got it. 2004 996 C4S Cab drivers seat....didn't see anything in a search....anyone know if the element is sewn in or laid in ?....Thanks Brad Pittsburgh PA

POST 2Original post

Most likely you have a burned out element. They are laid in and can be replaced if you're comfortable taking a seat apart. Start by checking the resistance on the heating elements. If you find one with an open circuit you have your culprit. There's one element in the back portion and one in the bottom portion. -Shawn

POST 3Original post

Yes or a Broken Element, i had the same issue, Element was replaced under CPO.

POST 5Original post

Sorry to hear you need heated seats in May. Good luck!

POST 6Original post

When my heater wasn't working I found through research that many times it could be the relay under the seat. If the relay is good, then the element is most likely shot, like mine was.

POST 7Original post

C four s, did you find the answer to your problem? My 996 recently developed a problem where when I press the heated seat button on the drivers seat the light turns red and immediately turns off. I'm going to try taking the seat off and replacing the relay, but curious to know your final fix.

POST 9Original post

I recently had my drivers seat redone, new foam, cradle etc. this happened to me only to find the heated seat connector wasn't completely seated back in the harness. All the explanations come to the same conclusion.....if the light goes off immediately there is some sort of break in the current.
