I've researched this to death before pulling the trigger and figured worse case scenario I could adjust the ride hight and/or roll the rear fenders.

My intention is to have a clean 996 that I can play with on the weekends with a little spirited driving here and there with the possibility of taking her to the track if time permits.

i really like the tail lights and want them myself but i read in one the the threads that those led tail lights have been causing electrical issues since it uses less volts then oem lights.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to alot of useful information on these forums, here's what I've come up with so far... Still work in progress, but I just picked up "Sally" (My 5 year old son calls her Sally from Cars) a few weeks ago. She was a nice all factory example with all the dealer service records, etc... My intention is to have a clean 996 that I can play with on the weekends with a little spirited driving here and there with the possibility of taking her to the track if time permits. So far I've done... - OEM smoked sidemarkers - Depo LED Taillights - LED interior lights / license plate lights - Very light tint all the way around - K&N Cold Air Intake - H&R Street Performance Coilover kit (Thanks to the DIY Tutorials on this forum!) - 19x8.5 19x11 Roderick Wheels 45mm f / 52mm r (Yes they do fit) - Hankook V12 235/35/19 - 285/30/19 - Fister D Mufflers at Darin's shop getting modded at the moment. Interior mods and photos are coming soon. Guage rings, Carbon Fiber, Seats, etc... I'll update with photos as we progress. =)

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are some of the wheels alone. This was an area of concern as I was unsure if this set up with fit without rolling fenders and other possible modifications. I really wanted an agressive set up that was plug and play. So far no rubbing, no rolloing fenders, etc... I will report back after taking her on a long bumpy drive. This one is compressed on the curb to check clearance...

POST 3Original post

Love the wheels and your modification list is very nice !! Can't wait to see the interior shots, thank you for posting the before and after shots

POST 4Original post

IMO, I didnt see anything wrong with the original wheels / tires. Those new ones look to be a really tight fit. Anyway, beautiful car. DO NOT TRACK IT!!!!! Didnt you read the other post? It will blow up.

POST 5Original post

Sweet, nice looking Porsche. You've been busy. Thanks for the pics.

POST 6Original post

I like the new agressive stance. Wheels are beautiful, I hope it does not rub looks really close in the back. Your car is a twin to mine except for the new wheels.

POST 7Original post

Love it! Just a few of the right mods completely transforms the look of the car.

+1 The 5-spoke wheel is God's gift to man. They're so very easy to clean and, as a bonus, they look great! P.S. I like your garage doors very much.

POST 10Original post

very nice looking car and tasteful mods... i really like the tail lights and want them myself but i read in one the the threads that those led tail lights have been causing electrical issues since it uses less volts then oem lights. Have you had any issues? .......... to your new toy

POST 11Original post

Secret Agent. Your ride looks great! Really like those wheels. Impressive list of mods. How do you like the intake?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10016416

I agree. I actually like these oem wheels along with many other oem Porsche style wheels. However, if you look closely, you will see all the curb rash on the original wheels and the tires were old and needed replacement. Besides, a sporty mesh wheel always goes well on a Porsche I also feel the same about BMW. As for Mercedes, I think a nice 5 Star looks good. As for tracking, it may never see the track, but it would be nice to take her out for a few rides.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10016626

No issues whatsoever and soooo easy to install. I've had great luck with depo products in the past with all my other euro cars so I didn't even hesitate on the lights.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10016634

So far so good. Nice little growl at wot not much difference in hp although this has been debated to death. I've had these kits in my other cars. I guess I did it for the looks, sound and for the sake of modding. Lol

POST 16Original post

Very nice car with tasteful mods I really like the taillights; however, since they don't improve the performance of the car, I'll pass. But, they look terrific on your car

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10016516

So far so good on the rubbing. I've researched this to death before pulling the trigger and figured worse case scenario I could adjust the ride hight and/or roll the rear fenders. So far it's pretty low and an absolute perfect fit with no fender rolling. Thank you everyone for you comments!!

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10017058

I get ultimate performance in how fast and bright the lights blink! Lol purely cosmetic. q

POST 19Original post

Beautiful! Are those Dectane led lights? Any full rear shots?

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10017489

From what I've read, Dectanes are relabeled Depos so I just purchased the Depos since I have never had any experience with Dectane.

POST 21Original post

normally I dont like 19's on 996's but those look pretty nice with the H&R set up did you get higher spring rates to keep it from hitting bottom with the shortened travel? I think i would be bumping something if the springs were not a lot bigger / stiffer

POST 22Original post

Fitment looks pretty good there, happy to see the tire and wheel fitment look good. I think the 285 vs 295 was a good choice, just a little bit of stretch to get it under the fender, pretty nice stance while being practical to drive, though the fitment may be a little more hellaflush with 295's or spacers you lose drivability without rolled fenders.

POST 24Original post

Great mods. I also have 19's and I don't have any rubbing either, makes the car really stand out. You have done a great job so far keep it up

POST 27Original post

Nice! That wheel design looks great on the car and I like the stance. Nice smooth lines.

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10017605

Thanks. No bumpn', chattering, rubn' etc... Perfect fit. I've had many suspension set ups and I must say, very pleased with the H&R Street Performance Coilovers. The dampening of the struts match the spring rate perfectly.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10017639

I was going back and forth between 285 ad 295s and really wanted to go 295, but I decided to play it safe and go with the 285s in fear of rubbing with such an aggressive width and offset. 295's would have cleared with a fender roll for sure. I was also afraid the 285's would be stretched, but it's actually not too bad. Overall, pretty happy with the stance. Thanks for all your comments. Now I need some HP upgrades! Thinking of a cat delete to go with my Fister D's. Just debating wether to go X pipe or Crossovers?
