Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My driver side window is making a scraping/scratching sound when it is raised or lowered. Could this possibly be a window regulator problem? It is also not lowering the window when I open the door, but if I push it down a little when I close it, the window will raise.

POST 2Original post

I have the exact same issue on my passenger side (scratching and not lowering). I am adding the regulator to the list of "winter garage" projects.

POST 3Original post

It sounds like the classic symptoms of window regulator failure to me.

POST 4Original post

My passenger side window does this as well. I think I posted awhile ago (pictures of) exactly what's causing the noise, but it's inside the window regulator spool. A small piece of plastic, keeping the wire taught, breaks loose. I've heard the 3rd party regulators are crap, but I haven't used one myself.

I saw your post. I figured it was the regulator; just needed confirmation. I'm ordering one this week.
