well while out of town this week our 2000 cabriolet of window started acting up, you when you lift the handle, you can hear the motor run for a split second (as if it were trying to lower the window the small amount needed), but the window barely moves down, not enough to open the door , the window does go down from the console switch in auto mode and up from the console switch, it also works with the key when you go to lower and raise the top, (that is how I did it all the way home, to close the window when getting out of the car)

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I need to get manual now for this car. but in the mean time, is there someplace with any pictures of this door taken apart? or any diagnoses "tree" to be sure what I am dealing with (switches, motor? what else might be the culprit?) sure would like to know what it looks like before I take it apart, I do not want to damage any door panels, or anything else while opening it all up and really do not want to take it to the dealer for this
thanks
Tom
It sounds like a bad window regulator, based on the symptoms you describe. Can you manually push the window down after you open the door? Does it return to normal position when you close the door?
There is a DIY on regulator replacement on renntech.org. It's fairly easy and inexpesive. The hardest part is taking the door panel apart without damaging the leather.
I'll go try that
ok, I very carefully opened the door, and yes I could manually push the window down about 1/2 or 9/16 of an inch,
when I closed the door the window went back up, and seated fully. still when I tried to open it again, I could hear the motor run a split second and it barely moved the window, not enough to open the door properly,. but again I was able to puch the window down that 1/2" or so
I assume that will be the regulator then?
ok I have the door panel off, I have not found the regulator removal, but the deal does have a regulator in stock for 300., I need to see what all to remove and be sure this is the issue next. thank you for your help!
It's definitely the regulator.
I bought my replacement part from
www.suncoastparts.com
.
Make sure to mark the glass with tape or a sharpie before you remove it so that you get it back into the clamps/mounts in the correct position.
Good luck!
thank you for the help, I do have it out now, im getting one lo0cally as I have to/or want it back together tomorrow, I have work the rest of the week through the weekend as well, even if it is $70.00 more
(after I pay shipping from suncoast and that is if it is ground ups)
here is a pic attached of where i think the cable has pulled through the blue plastic "grommet" i hope this is the problem?
If so, pretty easy job!
