So I replaced his sporty Grand AM with a Honda CRV - which he hates and moans about and I just tell him "don't blame me, I didn't total the car".

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went to help my oldest son for the day at his new home, and decided to take my Porsche, and some tools to reassemble a large swing set for his 3 children. I was heading north on rte. 95, cruising at an indicated 78-81 mph, bright sunny morning, in the high 30s, in the right lane for the most part, just enjoying some miles in my 911. Lots of cars in the left and middle lanes were going faster than I was. I came up on a gray, 5.0 Mustang, spotless, and with tinted windows, in the right lane. I put on my blinker and moved to the center lane, and passed him at 79 mph, then signaled and went back to the right lane. I'd say it was another half mile, and suddenly bright blue lights flooded my rear view mirror, so I pulled over into the breakdown lane. He(state trooper) approached my passenger window, so I lowered the window and he said "do you know why I stopped you"?, and I said "not really". He said my car was not registered(expired in August), and I need your paperwork."Sit still and I'll be back"...After 15 minutes the trooper returned and said he wrote me a summons, but if I go to court with proof of a current registration, he'll file my summons(not sure what he meant), and possibly reduce my fine.Tonight , I looked at the ticket, and a box next to a speeding violation was checked, then scratched out, but he wrote in the expired registration info. above.Anyway, no harm no foul, but it did get my heart pumping. My mistake for not having a current registration.

POST 2Original post

Got two kids in college. Keeping their tags current is always a challenge. The DMV loves our late fees! Seems the online registration reminders and subsequent emails find my spam folder. There is just too much s$&t out there for us middle aged folks to remember! Heading out to the garage right now to check my wife's car...and mine. Thanks for the reminder Barn!

POST 3Original post

Steve: You are so lucky in MA they would have forbidden you to move the car and had it towed on the spot.

POST 4Original post

could've been worse! i think the cop actually gave you a break...

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 10002378

I paid a hefty fine for my college boy a couple of years ago, wasn't bad enough that he totaled his car, the cop on the scene also wrote for the expired registration. Insult to injury was when I let my boy know how displeased I was about the expired registration and his answer was " don't blame me, the car is in your name" Grrrrr So I replaced his sporty Grand AM with a Honda CRV - which he hates and moans about and I just tell him "don't blame me, I didn't total the car".

POST 6Original post

Hi Steve, glad to hear you didn't get nailed for speeding. You sound like a great dad.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In retrospect, seems that the officer did give me a break, it could have gone the other way. Thanks for all the comments.

POST 9Original post

I had something similar happen to me years ago in Pennsylvania. I realized about two months late that the registration on my old 944 was expired. In PA you used to have a window sticker with a certain color so you can really tell when it was overdue because the color was different. So I printed everything out and started heading to the DMV. On my way there a cop is coming towards me in the opposite direction. He flips the lights and catches up to me. As he walks up he tells me my registration is expired. I show him all my paperwork on the passenger seat and told him, "I know, I was on my way." He lets me go - but wow what a coincidence!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Turns out that the fine was only $70, so he let me off easy. Going to register my Porsche this am and pay my fine today as well. The town hall was closed on fri. so I couldn't drive my C2 over the weekend.
