Its a nice escape from the real world when you jack up your car, remove the wheels, get under it and start cleaning / detailing the engine, trans, suspension, etc.

Even though the PS fluid is not mentioned in most fluid change schedules, I found where several experts stated it should be changed every 3 to 5 years or 30000 to 60000 miles.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know some members thought I did not need to chnage my power steering fluid but I was able to find more info why you should.
Even though the PS fluid is not mentioned in most fluid change schedules, I found where several experts stated it should be changed every 3 to 5 years or 30000 to 60000 miles. Most experts said that due to the expense of the modern RPS rack, etc. it was good PM to change it just like with other fluids.
Most of our cars are low mileage and sit unused for long periods of time so I agree. My steering even feels better (or it may be psychological) after the PS flush.
Its not hard or expensive so theres really no reason not to change it. At least everytime you change trans, front dif, and brake flush.
Point taken.
It is certainly a bit inconsistent of me to be so adamant about changing other vital fluids and yet be so lackadaisical about the power steering fluid.
So, the next time I have my Boxster in for service I'll have this done and use this as an excuse to talk to the techs about power steering fluid service.
B8, that will not even come close to a flush. Theres only an ounce or so in there. The full DIY write up is here:

Thanks Mac, but with your knowledge why not do your own service? Its fun!
IIRC, there is a vent in the PS resevoir, so it is always breathing in water vapor. Doing mine next week with the other services. I wouldn't exactly call it fun, but it IS fun saving money, if you can. A liter of Pentosin PS fluid from Suncoast is $17. Cheap insurance.
B8, That wont work. There is so little in the reservoir, its a waste of time and fluid.
Theres nothing like seeing the clean nice pretty colors of the oils when you check the various sytems fluid levels. Working on your car is not only fun, it should be relaxing, calming, and an oasis of sorts away from the everyday stress we deal with. Its a nice escape from the real world when you jack up your car, remove the wheels, get under it and start cleaning / detailing the engine, trans, suspension, etc. All the stress melts away with the grime your cleaning off. This is mostly for the good weather driving cars I suppose. Then again, I can't fathom DD'ing a Porsche.
Make sure your shop, service area, etc. is how you want it. Your decor, your music, etc. Owning a Porsche is a fun hobby, not work. When I am detailing, cleaning, or servicing my Porsche, I liken it to a religious experience. Im thinking of making my shop theme sort of like a Miami Vice theme (without the hookers). That show is dated but screamed coolness (and featured some nice cars).
No place to work on my cars and no time and in fact this time thing is getting worse.
I've been so busy since July my Turbo went 10K miles between oil/filter services vs. my religious adherence to 5K mile oil/filter services. I just lost track of the miles.
