Folks, I'm been going thru the multi threads about the FisterD mod to the stock exhaust. (i'm referring to 3.6 cans) There seems to be 2 different stages/mods that's offered. Stage 1: the "extra" pipe is connected between the outlet and the "sealed" chamber (I think this is what the PSE is setup as, sans the valve) Stage 2: pipe connecting the inlet and outlet pipe I assume Stage 2 is louder. Does anyone have any video/audio of stage 1 vs. stage 2? Has anyone gone from Stage 1 to stage 2, if so, what are your thoughts? What's the pref'd stage to go with? Also, what's the "gundo hack?" Thx!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Relatively quiet until the engine is under load (but still not as quiet as stock).

+1 I have the exact same question as I await Fister to call me today. Thanks.
Stage 2. I called Darin about this when I did mine a year ago and he said he hasn't Done a stage 1 in a long time. There is nothing to be afraid of sound wise. Quiet when you want it and throaty when it should be.
All are stage 2 now, very pleased with it.
stage 3 or Stage 2 with 200 cell cats
nevermind, this is the 996 forum.... :0
I believe the "Gundo Hack" is the same as the Stage 1 mod.
Anyone in the bay area that has the Stage 1 or Stage 2 mod? I'd like to take a listen if possible. Stage 2 sounds good, but I don't want it to be too loud (plus Stage 2, is it still quiet enough for Laguna?)
I have the mod done by the privious owner and I have run at Laguna without issue ( will again this Wednesday). I love the sound. I live in San Jose if you want to listen to my car.
I have a 3.4L engine, but have the mufflers from a 3.6 engine modded with the "stage 1" mod, with at 2.25" elbow connecting the the "capped chamber" and the outlet. This is similar to the PSE, but without the valve. It's been 2 or 3 years, and I'm very pleased with it. Here's an autocross I did a while back. Not a great video, but you can get a sense of the "growl" of the Stage 1 mod. I've posted this several times, but here it is again...

Thanks for the link/video! That gives me a good idea. I assume no drone, and quiet until you get on it right? Anyone with the stage2 they can share? (Pref is not one that's just sitting there parked and being rev'd. Underload would be a better example) Thanks!

No drone. Relatively quiet until the engine is under load (but still not as quiet as stock). It's more growly than loud.
Dude, you are over thinking it. There are 100 threads on it you can review just pull the trigger you won't regret it.

I dont care how many video's I watch - I have never seen one that replicates the sound well - they just dont.,.....that's how I ended up with bypass pipes look the fister D thing is a no brainer, I have never met anyone who hasnt said it was worth doing - I have met at least 2 poeple who wanted more noise, but never one that said it was too loud and everyone outside the car says "wow, what exhaust do you have" and everyone inside says....you chnanged something - I dont hear anything
