This is not a probability of success.

The previous owner gave me all receipts from new, he had bought it as a CPO car from the original dealer and they had replaced the engine (due to an out-of-round intermediate shaft bore) at 58000 miles.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all - a few weeks ago I pulled the trigger and purchased a 2002 C2 after having spoken with the seller, looking at many pix, and having a PPI done. Flew out to NJ and verified the car was a good as described, then drove it back home to CO. (Great drive, BTW). Thank goodness I did not put the trip off another couple of weeks, sheesh! Car is Seal Grey over Black Leather Comfort Seats, 6speed, PSM, Flared skirts, 18" TT's, painted center console, 63000 miles 3 weeks ago, now approaching 66000... The previous owner gave me all receipts from new, he had bought it as a CPO car from the original dealer and they had replaced the engine (due to an out-of-round intermediate shaft bore) at 58000 miles. Reading about someone's waterpump going out on this board, I started wondering: With a new (well, remanufactured, right?) engine, what exactly is basically as new/upgraded to newest spec? Obviously the internal bearings, pistons, rings, etc, but what about the Waterpump? I assume the alternator would NOT be replaced as it is completely external, but how about basic stuff like sparkplugs even? Is there a list somewhere or does anyone know how the engine arrives from Porsche and what is transferred over etc.? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I believe you do get a new alternator, waterpump, plugs and coilpacks and AOS. Renntech has a nice pic of a new motor: http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...-in-procedure/

POST 3Original post

How is your back problem Walter? Welcome to Rennlist. Pics would be nice to see of your new Porsche. As mentioned, your replacement engine should be all new parts including water pump etc. Lucky that you were out of NJ by the time Sandy arrived.

POST 4Original post

Driving to CO from NJ is good back therapy! Yes and Pics Please!

POST 5Original post

well for sure the water pump comes on a new motor unless they bought a new case a built the motor - which is extremely unlikely Pics now or face the wrath!

POST 6Original post

Congrats on the purchase, I'm sure that was some great bonding time driving back to Colorado. Can't wait to see some pictures

Crate engine from Porsche includes New alternator, powersteering pump, flywheel, front accesoriy pulleys, exhaust manifolds, etc. Just about everything bolted to the engine when the engine is "droped"

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all very much for the replies, that engine replacement is VERY comprehensive! I suppose that makes the install go extremely fast at the dealership if they don't have to swap many things over. I'll get to work on getting some pix posted, having too much fun driving it right now to find the camera and get it cleaned!
