I would just go with a higher offset or narrower width rim in the rear, but the problem is all the wheels I like; Avant Garde, Roderick, etc...
Leading evidence: 'wheels i like; avant garde, roderick, etc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'wheels i like; avant garde, roderick, etc' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Test fit' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I would suggest test fitting the wheels only first, then decide on the F/R tire combination.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi new member here.
I've done quite a bit of research and seems there are so many different applications that may or may not fit.
I just picked up amn 01' 996 and I am considering upgrading to a new set of 19" wheels (specs below) and have been advised to go with 225/35/19 Front - 285/30/19 Rear which seem a bit narrow to me and would prefer a 235/35/19 Front - 295/30/19 Rear, but will it rub on a Narrow Boday 996 with H&R Cilovers? I do not want to rub and do not want to roll fenders.
Here are the specs of the wheels:
Staggered set up
Size:
2) 19 x 8.5 Front
2) 19 x 11 Rear
Offset: +45 Front / +52 Rear
What do you tire gurus suggest?
Thanks in advance!
996NB C2,
19X11 with et of 52mm will pry not look good. have you done a test fit with just the wheel?
FWIW, on my 00 C2 Cab, I had 19 X 11 et 67 with a 7mm spacer; in effect an offset of 60 and that brought the wheel almost right up to the edge of the fender. I did not have any suspension mods, I had both 295/30 and 305/30 19's with no rubbing issues and standard alignment...How much will the H&R's drop the car? if it's over an inch, it will be a close fit.
on the 19 X8.5 with et +45, you should be fine, but also real close to the edge.. tire wise, 235/35 is fine or maybe even a 245/35/19 . I would suggest test fitting the wheels only first, then decide on the F/R tire combination.
here's a pic from a couple years ago( TurboII replicas, rears 305/30/19 rears with 245/35 fronts Hankook V12 ( about 3/4 treadwear)) looks like plenty of room for lowering.....
With a drop imo without major camber adjustment in he rear will bring the backs in slightly at the top giving a very flush fitment. the 285 would probably work best giving just minor stretch and tucking it under the rear quarter nicely. without test fitting first I would be worried about the rears rubbing a little when dropped. I am not uber sure about narrow body fitment though. As far as tire sizes as well if you have a C2 its not as much of an issue, but the 235/35R19 and 285/30R19 have very close Overall diameters, with the rears being about 0.3 inches taller, but with the stretch in the rear should be even closer to identical diameters
Thanks. It's interesting with many wheels being offered out there for the narrow body in 19x8.5 et 45 / 19x11 et 52 advertising a perfect fit, but after further poking around (pun intended), looks like it's not recommended, but seems to barely work with the right size tire and drop/camber combination. I would just go with a higher offset or narrower width rim in the rear, but the problem is all the wheels I like; Avant Garde, Roderick, etc... all seem to have this exact size and offset. I am definitely not going 275/30/19 in the rear on an 11" wide wheel. That would be some stretch and poke for sure. I would prefer to go 295, but afraid it will rub for sure. I think I will go with the Hankook V12 in 285/30/19 and hope the H&R Coilovers will tuck the rears in at the top with resorting to a fender roll as a last resort.
Anyone have any photos of 19x11 52 offset wrapped in 285 or 295/30/19?
I would be interested in seeing the profile. Thanks for the help.
Well I thought I was making a reply to this thread and not to the other current wheel one haha so I will just copy and paste this over:
I would say if test fit first, the 285 is the section width in millimeters 285 millimeters is about 11.2 inches at its widest point, so pretty well flush with your wheels. Your tread width will be a little less than this but will depend on the tire itself and tread design so lets guestimate 10.7 inches. That is a total of 0.5 inches over all, or a 0.25 inches of difference on each side of the wheel. Your sidewall height is 3.36 inches. Now lets make a right angled triangle with your tires, base will be 0.25 inches, the edge opposite the right angle (sidewall) will be 3.36 inches. now using basic trig, we can find the height is 3.35 inches, and the angle between the sidewall and base is 85.7 degrees. So this means your tire sidewall will slope in at 85.7 degrees which is pretty close to 90 degrees and that imo is very little stretch.
The tire size alone will not give you a sunken battle ship look, more so the offset of the wheel which I am pretty unfamiliar with narrowbody fitment but again lets make some calculations. the OEM 18" wheel is 18x9 with a 43 offset. that means the space behind the face of the hub (surface that touches the wheel) is 43mm more than the area infront. with the 52 offset that means you will have 52 more mm space behind the face instead of in front so the OEM wheels were a total of 228.6 mm wide with 157.3 mm on the back and 71.3mm on the front side. the new wheels are 279.4 mm wide and have 189.5 mm on the back side and 87.7 on the front side. So that means from you factory wheel it will extend inwards to your struts an extra 32mm or about 1.25 inches, and extend outwards about 16mm or 0.63 inches.
Given I am not an expert on narrow body fitment, but I believe this will bring the face pretty flush with the fender. if you drop it though you may get a slightly sunken look without camber adjustment, and spacers and fender rolling may be required for the optimal hella flush fit.

The grey C4S with the red wheels looks okay to me. I like how it's lowered, but it looks just a bit too low for my tastes. Also, the rear tires seem too small for the rear wheels. They look too narrow, leaving too much of the wheel sticking out past the tire. It looks silly, IMHO.
Buy hey, to each his/her own. If that's the way that owner likes it, then more power to him!
Well, I pulled the trigger and placed an order for the Roderick RW-6 as I couldn't decide between a lip or concave so this was a perfect compromise. I decided to with the specs on my OP with Hankooks V12 in 235/35/19 Front and 285/30/19 Rear really wanted the 295 in the rear, but was skeptical if it would fit without any major modification. I will post pics before and after H&R Coilovers. This should hopefully make good reference for future newbies.
