Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The list of issues with my new-to-me 2000 996 C4 is sadly continuing to mount; but, the latest is the passenger's power window. It made a bit of a laboring noise and went down really slowly when starting to put it down yesterday - so - I stopped and tried to put it back up. It slowly went back up but made a bit of a troubling/grinding/aching noise. It still comes down the small amount when I open that door...but, I'm afraid of trying to lower it again. Anyone have any thoughts? How tough is it to get into/behind that door panel to check things out?

POST 2Original post

Not hard to get into door panel. Here is DIY: http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutor...l-instructions If you heard grinding could be the motor.

POST 3Original post

You can get grinding and crunching noises when your window regulator is on the way out too.

POST 4Original post

It makes it easier on the window mech if you also wax the outside of the windows. The rubber skirts put drag on the system.

POST 5Original post

what did it end up being? I'm getting the same thing on the driver's side now.

POST 6Original post

There are so many things can go wrong if a battery is not fully charged on the 911. Before you start over worrying I would boost up the battery overnight and try things again.
