Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2004 C4S Cab for sale... No, not mine, but this one makes me feel reaaaaaaaaaally good about the deal I got on mine. Why is everyone fighting the apparent uptick in 996 values? -Eric

POST 2Original post

Wait a while and I bet you could have this one for under $50k. No way they will sell it for what they are asking. For that money you can get a 997 C4s cab, maybe even a 997.2.

POST 3Original post

I think they're over valuing the low miles. Sure, it's been used so little, it's almost new. Why not charge almost new prices?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not saying I agree with the valuation or that I'd pay anywhere near the asking price but, hey, if it drives up the value of my car who am I to argue? lol -Eric

POST 5Original post

That car is pretty enough to get some clueless individual to see it on the lot, fall in love with it, and buy it near the asking price without a PPI. The P-car dealers hopes and hopes and hopes for that kind of buyer....and they do exist.

POST 6Original post

I just sold my 2004 C4s cab lapis blue/ grey with more options with 61,000 miles for 38,000. thats $0.40/mile!!!

POST 7Original post

WOW That car is stunning especially with the blue soft top and that interior! Amazing looking car! But I agree with everyone that it is over-priced!

POST 8Original post

Nice car but is that really a cinnamon brown interior? I have the same color interior in my cabrio and it's boxster red (m30/m40 color codes). I recall seeing a cinnamon brown interior and it was way more on the brown side than red.

POST 9Original post

I don't particularly like Lapis Blue and I don't particularly like Cinnamon Brown. So why do I find myself drooling over this car? (Feds, I see the point of your question about the interior color, but the ad says Cinnamon Brown and it does look more brown to me than boxster red)

POST 11Original post

It's kind of a law of nature on forums like this that they are a wonderful place to buy a car, but a lousy place to sell one. Enthusiast owners know too much and, because they're already owners, they wouldn't consider paying a premium for the 'dream'.

POST 12Original post

The inventory at my local Stealer are outrageously high. I went in a few weeks ago to check out the 991 and the prices on their 997's and 996's were so ridiculous.

POST 13Original post

The interior looks more like "Natural Brown" than cinnamon brown to me, but it could just be the photos.

POST 14Original post

What's that old saying, "there's a *** for every seat."? I know it's totally a personal thing, but blue and brown? I guess someone will take to it eventually. I'm just old fashioned. I like my Porsches silver, my Ferraris red and my Jags green

I like to think I got in just in time

POST 17Original post

Yea I also got in just in time. There is no doubt the 996 market arrow is pointing up. My arrow also points up every time I drive it.

POST 18Original post

Only 10,000 miles in 8 years! That puts me off. Well that car wasn't bought to be used. It's just been standing around for 8 years. Personally I would run a mile at that milage and the asking price. I would be more interested in a car of the same year that had done 50,000 at around 35 grand. Why do peoople buy cars and hardly use them? I just don't understand the logic. (Why is everyone fighting the apparent uptick in 996 values?) Hey if he can get it, good luck to him.

Quotes source post: 9359571

I've been posing this question for quite a while now.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 9361683

I've pondered this one myself about my own car. The original owner custom ordered it, paid cash for it and then proceeded to put 13,000 ish miles on it in the next 11 years. Doesn't really make sense to me, but I was happy for the opportunity to buy his low mileage car. I've since put 15,000 miles on the car in the last 2 years.

NEWSFLASH: 2023 EXCELLENCE MAGAZINE HEADLINE "JERRY SIENFELD MUST LIQUIDATE HOLDINGS" "Everything must go," Sienfeld says, as he set A NEW record for his 20 year old C4S coup with the "very rare" & sought after bleeding front headlights, at a price of $87,500. The buyer, Walter Y. Naught-me explained, "I feel so lucky to have found such a beauty...for my 16 yr old daughter's bday!"

POST 23Original post

I have no problem with the value of 996's going up, but I'd like to see a few actual sales at these prices before I get wound up about it.

POST 24Original post

It's either one is willing to pay for low mileage or not. Looking at a same year C4S with 60k miles for $39k and this one for $59k is not a good comparison. That is like buying a brand new car $25 to 30k back of sticker price It appears to be very well equipped. I know maybe one or two things about selling Porsche's.
