Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It seems wrong to me. I feel like that's not the place people who really care about cars buy or sell them. However, I find a 2004 C4S cab, 54k miles, for only $40k. I like Carmax for other cars as they do good inspections (yes I would still do a PPI), offer a few day money back guarantee, etc.... I always have felt their prices are high which tells me these dealers and individuals asking $50k for similar cars are off their rockers! Also, it doesn't say if it has sports exhaust. Is there a way to tell from the photos? http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/...id=266575#tab9

POST 2Original post

wow that's a pretty car... I think it's a good price. If it were me, I'd buy it pending a good PPI.

POST 3Original post

Not sure on the sport exhaust. The exhaust tips look a bit off though - they are "pushed in" under the bumper cover. This could be because of a modification to the exhaust system. It could also be because of a rear-end collision. It's hard to say. Maybe it's nothing. I love the Sport Techno wheels... that's pretty rare on the C4S. They typically have Turbo Look II wheels.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Amazing. Already says not available for sale. It seemed like a good deal to me and I knew it would go fast.

Viva la 996 C4S revolution!

Seems high for a 8yr old car, IMO, unless of course the 996 value has increased as of late. Does carmax really have good deals? I mean they tell you immediately they aren't going to change the sticker price (No Haggle Pricing).

POST 7Original post

The link will not come up for me but was this sounds like the one I was following in San Antonio Carmax store. If not, then getting a Porsche at Carmax may be more common than we might have thought.

The C4S is much more expensive than the C2. You can find other '04 C4S cabs with asking prices around $50k. $40k is fair price. I agree with you as I do not think Carmax has good deals but this price seems very reasonable to me compared with many other asking prices.

POST 9Original post

I saw a C4S in the Fresno Carmax back in November/December. Not sure if this is same car but it was priced pretty well. Cosmetically it looked very good. Made me wish I had waited and gotten this model though not necessarily this car.

POST 10Original post

The way I look at it is Carmax is no different than any other random car dealer. If the price is right and the PPI/history checks out then why not?

POST 11Original post

I bought my wifes 04 996 cab with 23k mi from carmax 39k local wrench checked it out and said it was in great shape and it has been buy the warranty

POST 12Original post

They also had an 08 turbo also,... funny thing is it had a fingernail size ding on the rear drivers fender up high. I stood and watched about 30 people run there grimy fingers over the top of it and it was showing many scratches in that one location. It was black i felt sorry for that car.

POST 13Original post

Carmax actually has a pretty solid reputation. I know they aren't really a Porsche place, but if it's on their lot, they believe it is a solid car. They work off of auction prices and NADA. That's how they buy and sell. I would feel better about buying a Porsche from Carmax than a lot of other used car dealers.
