I ran the cable up the console and out through the ashtray. This has worked very well for me.

Are you going to replace your OEM with a double din unit or just a Bluetooth compatible device?

Use "aux" input...sounds pretty good

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am a big fan of Pandora. That is usually what I listen to when on the PC. Can someone suggest a good radio/Pandora set up for my 996?? All suggestions are appreciated.
You can get a Motorola Blue tooth that goes on you visor. Then get Pandora on your phone and send it to the Motorola blue tooth and it will send it through FM signal to your radio.
Right now I am using an FM transmitter with my iPhone (4s). The quality really is awful but it is still better than the radio. Pandora is all I listen to during the day in the car and at work.
I can't bring myself to spend so much money on that Dension thing just to get aux input. I really don't care for aftermarket head units but might brake down and get one at some point.
what radio do you have? CDR220? I added the cable from becker to the unit, and use the audio out from my phone to play throught he radio....it uses the "aux" input...sounds pretty good....
Anyone try this?

I'm in a similar boat, and want to play my iPod through my 996 head unit. I need to continue to do research, but the above appears to be a fairly simple upgrade, while leaving all other functionality in place. With this you could certainly play iPod, but also use the iPhone to grab Pandora and play through adapter.
Anyway, thinking out loud...
I actually do that now. Unfortunately the quality of the sound that comes out of the motorola unit on the visor is good enough quality to speak with, but not really good enough to listen to music
.
My 996 has an Alpine aftermarket unit that has pretty good sound. It has a female end for a USB, but I have tried plugging the USB and nothing happens
. I really like Pandora and will pay for their upgrade but I want it in my car also
I have a cheap JVC unit in my truck right now with an iPod connection. Using that I can stream Pandora through my stereo pretty easily.
In the future, I plan on installing the App Radio 2 into my 996. Looks like it has nice integration with mobile phones - which is pretty much what you need to get Pandora in your car. I think it's also one of the cleanest looking after market stereos. The JVC I have in my truck looks terrible (IMO).

Im considering going the Becker route with the aux in that replaces the cd changer. I think its about $30from Becker, you could get a generic for al little as $15 fom Ebay.
I use the Becker cable and Aux-in function on the radio, but in addition to that, I use a
Blitzsafe Universal iPhone adapter.
This gives me charging of the phone, and auto pause when the car is turned off.
