Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I only have one key and the remote guts are missing, key unlocks car fine from the door lock... but will not turn the alarm off, and car will not turn over, dash lights do light up where should I start looking to troubleshoot? Im thinking the transponder in the key (my only key grrr) might have failed? alarm starts to go off right when you turn the key (normally when I turn the key it disables the alarm) and I cannot open the front trunk or anything........ it happened suddenly, my wife and I drove to dinner without incident, came out from dinner and this happened.

POST 2Original post

Are you sure the little transponder bean is still there? If it is, then yes, it sounds like it's not communicating right.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah I double checked last night and the little green glass pill is still in there......

POST 4Original post

Make sure your battery is ok (car, that is), and take a look at Excellence for a quick and cheap fob fix last year (late in the year, if I recall). Had similar issue and car battery had unexpectedly died.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well I just ended up using my road side assistance and had it towed to larson porsche in Tacoma lol....lets hope it just needs a key and not a whole new immobilizer unit!

POST 6Original post

Better still, lets hope it only needs the battery charging up.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

dealer basically told me that they were able to disarm the alarm and get the car running, but you cannot set the alarm or it starts all over again lol. basically my alarm control unit is fried, the diagnostic equipment wont even talk to the alarm brain. Im going to pick it up, drive it home and put it in the garage till I get back in the country, order a new alarm unit from suncoast probably, dealer wants over $600 for it and $275 to program. at least I can drive it I guess!
