Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have run additional wiring through the large rubber grommets used where the harness goes through the barrier.
Leading evidence: 'Run additional wiring through the large rubber grommets' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run additional wiring through the large rubber grommets' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Certianly and hinge type antenna is better than glass mount, and would much rather run the antenna that way.

One thought was to use an antenna mount that sits in the engine cover hinge, you just simply "close" the engine cover on it and it stays in place.........its a great location, but I would need to run antenna wire from inside engine area into back of cabin and not sure there is any conduit/path there.

I was going to use the 2nd storage pocket up from the bottom as the location.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am looking to add a mobile ham radio to my 996.
I was going to use the 2nd storage pocket up from the bottom as the location. Screw the radio bracket either into the pocket below (which would be easiest) or somehow to the top. I plan to route the power cables direct to the battery to avoid most noise, I will just have to remember to turn off the unit (I could install a remote relay but its better to have it isolated).
I plan to use a glassmount dual band 2m/70cm antenna, hopefully those work well, as I am not drilling holes in my car, and I am not sure there is any sort of access electrically from the engine area into the car. One thought was to use an antenna mount that sits in the engine cover hinge, you just simply "close" the engine cover on it and it stays in place.........its a great location, but I would need to run antenna wire from inside engine area into back of cabin and not sure there is any conduit/path there.
Anyone ever done this? The mobile units are thin, and are not DIN sized, so it may not look quite right unless I build some sort of cover plate/flush for the radio..........I have no experience in doing that, and not sure if there is a place I can go to get that, but I was thinking maybe a stereo shop could just make me one...........one in Carbon Fiber would look great as my console is all carbon fiber.

The DME harness runs from the shelf area behind the rear seats into the engine compartment. I have run additional wiring through the large rubber grommets used where the harness goes through the barrier. Shouldn't be too difficult to do the same with the coax for your antenna.
Thanks I wasn't aware of that. Certianly and hinge type antenna is better than glass mount, and would much rather run the antenna that way. I will look for this DME access path behind my seats
I think you should use a full-sized whip antenna. Then have a magnetic sign for the side of the car that says, "This is a full-sized RC car. Can you spot the real driver with the transmitter?"
