Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I believe I have successfully installed the IMS Guardian today, but I cannot locate a firewall pug. I get to step 16 and it looks like I need to remove the driver side rear seat trim piece. I have been unable to remove the rear trim piece, I removed the seat belt plastic cap and screw behind it, speaker and screw behind it, rear seat hex pin, and plug for windscreen. The bottom lifts out but it feels like there is something else holding it in by the rear window seal. I tried with window up and down - didn't work either way. Also, looking from underneath I haven't been able to locate a firewall plug. If anyone has installed the IMS Guardian on a Cabriolet and has some insight please let me know. Mine is a 2004 - not sure if it matters.

POST 2Original post

The cab is no different than the other 996 or even Boxster models. You can use ANY BODY PLUG that has a pass through capability and all years and models vary in the location of these plugs. Some have also chosen to drill a pass through hole, or even run the wires past the rubber boot that directs the shift cables. In short, as long as the wires don't pass through non grommeted body work, or near a heat source there really isn't any wrong way to pass the wires. Always choose the most direct route to ensure the wires are long enough, only one person has needed our extension kit because the wires were routed so far away from a direct path.. If you need help, post on our support forums, I reply immediately.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Jake, I passed the cable through with the shift cables. I gave up on looking for a plug further back - with the roll over protection system and the convertible top hardware - it is a bear to get access back there. System works like a charm.
