Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my pads are getting pretty low (not to the sensors yet) and recently I've picked up some noticeable vibration/shimmy while braking. At high speed it feels more like a vibration or shimmy, but at low speed I can feel the brakes grab->let go->grab->let go. Reading a million threads I gather that it is likely just uneven pad material on the rotors. I'm going to put on a new set of pads soon and wanted to try to clean off as much of the old material as possible to clear up this vibration without screwing them up. They are still within spec (33mm up front / 27mm in the back). What's the most effective way to clear off old pad material?

dotframe, What is the Min Spec in MM's on Fronts for our C4S Rotors?

I found a thread last night that said 32 and 26 were the min. I think it said they were 34 and 28 new.

POST 4Original post

Red scotchbrite pads should remove any residual material, but I've never really had an issue with this.

POST 5Original post

You have to drive it up to 80-100 or higher if you can and do a couple/three of hard braking(almost panic type stops) to burn off the crap stuck on the rotors.Yhat rebeds the pads then you will get rid of that vibration.

Thanks I'll give that a shot while I wait for the new pads to show up.
