Looks fairly clean from the pics, maintenance history would be nice from a buyers perspective.

The IMS has not been done, but my mechanic has run a blackstone report and it is clean and there are no mechanical issues with the car.

So IMHO, use the same (similar?) thought process you used as a BUYER to price your car now as a SELLER.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone,
The time has come to part ways with my 2002 C4S. Unfortunately (or fortunately for non-car people) my family is growing again and two child seats in the back will no longer hold all my kids. While this was my third car and never really a kid hauler, my life is going to get even crazier and I can't justify holding on to the car. I have loved the car and babied the hell out of it in my brief ownership. After taking it to a few local dealerships I haven't really gotten any offers for that make sense for me.
My question for the forum is this: What should I list the car for and what do people think it will sell for?
Here are the details. It's at 69k miles, has had a few owners and 1 accident on it's Carfax from a while ago. I am not really sure where the accident was, but it was purely cosmetic and I can't even tell where the paintwork is. There are some stone chips, a ding or two and a scratch on one of the wheels, all commiserate with the age and mileage. The IMS has not been done, but my mechanic has run a blackstone report and it is clean and there are no mechanical issues with the car. It is lightly optioned with full leather and the sports exhaust, it is completely stock.
Any tips you can share for getting a fair value for the car would be greatly appreciated! It might pop up on the classified section in the next couple of weeks...

this thread may be a good place to start. With spring coming up and potential buyers looking around, Id say start in the low 30s and go from there.
Welp... I would try and get $19K for it. The engine in my 2002 cab grenaded at 72K miles and I had to sell it as a roller for $5K. Camshaft chain failed while cruising at 2500rpm with no load on the engine. There was nothing but metal parts in the pan. It had been perfectly maintained since birth and I miss it terribly.
If you end up keeping your car, I'd go have the chain and tensioners changed out immediately.
Good luck with the sale.
Looks fairly clean from the pics, maintenance history would be nice from a buyers perspective. My thought is list middish 20s and see what kind of bites you get.
Service records will be a factor. I am looking at similar cars and so many through dealers have zero history. This means you have to assume everything needs service. Which can be thousands of dollars. Blackstone if you have several are a very nice thing to have. One is ok but it really is a trend so multiples are better.
C4 with all leather interior and that wide backside is a very desirable car!!!
I'd be interested but depends on records and where you want to be.
What service records does it have?
Shoot a pic of the hood sticker too.
Im definitely not selling for $19k, a local dealership offered more. Sorry!
I bought the car through a broker and besides the Carfax I dont have service history beyond what Ive done (fluids/battery/etc.). I know that will hold back pricing a little.
I think it is lightning. Judging where the sun hits and the angle the picture is taken at it looks like the hood is in the shadow. If you look at the part of the bumper and hood in the shadow it looks similar. In the rest of the pics it looks like the bumper matches pretty well. I've noticed this a lot, even taking pictures of cars after I detail them, some angles and shadows make colors mismatch. Then sometimes they are actually mismatched lol.
It looks like a nice car. I would think the 26 range is fair given original ims, accident on its record and limited service records.
Based on what I have seen in the market, the cars that bring the low 30s money have comprehensive service records and sub 60k miles.
Where exactly are you guys finding all these C4Ss with sub 100K miles for under $25K? I found exactly two nationwide on Cars.com and CarGurus.com. The market for 996 C4Ss has really dropped that low in the last few years? Sorry Im not seeing it.
If you're in no hurry, I think you'll be able to get $30k in the spring/summer market. If you need to get it gone soon, you might be in the mid-high $20k range. Looks like a great rig, but, as a seal gray C4S owner, I might not be 100% objective. :-)
Because you don't see them for sale doesn't necessarily equate to them being worth more in my opinion. I do not see a lot of Ford Pintos for sale, but it doesn't make them worth more money. I am by no means an experts, he was just asking opinions and I gave it. If you start creeping up in to the 30s you start to get into the 997 range, which to me is why a 996 wouldn't be worth it.

My 2 cents: as a BUYER, I assume you did some research (e.g. mileage, mechanical/cosmetic shape, options, etc.) before you bought this car at a PRICE that you believed was right/fair/OK, etc.
So IMHO, use the same (similar?) thought process you used as a BUYER to price your car now as a SELLER. Best of luck!
