Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking for some advice: The instrument light turns on intermittently and then turns off after some time. Very annoying. I did some research and it seems others have successfully fixed the "instrument light problem" replacing the ignition switch. I've also read that Porsche did fix the ignition switch in the 2004 model. 2004 is what I have so I'm not sure if that is the right next step. So I'm not sure if it is worthwhile trying to replace the ignition switch. I did check the fuses, the battery is new, the backup and license plate lights are working. I did install a new radio so maybe is that there is some glitch somewhere (I tapped the ignition 12V +)? Any advice on how to troubleshoot this? Thanks for help, Chris

POST 2Original post

Could be coincidental to the radio install but also might not be. Have you considered the headlight switch? Maybe take it out and clean it with some spray contact cleaner - see how you go

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great suggestion. I have not. I will give that a try.
