Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Had my Independent shop look it over after I got it home and they gave it a clean bill of health.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I've had the Porsche for about 2 months now and I am just curios as to what the fellow Rennlister's think of the purchase price on this. I love the car, have zero complaints and would do it again, just wondering if it was a good deal in general. For me it was be cause my better half ONLY wanted white, it had to be a convertible, and it could not have tan interior. That really narrowed the playing field. I looked all over the country for years (not kidding) and really could find the right car at a price I was willing to pay. This popped up only 1.5hrs from my house so it had additional value to me since I wouldn't have to fly to get it, and drive god knows how many miles back. Anyway here are some details and photos. Keep in mind I did the radio upgrade after I purchased (not sure if that adds or decreases value but I figured you should know).

Everything works fine, no dash lights on, no leaks drives tight. Paid $17,000 guy was asking $19,500. I did buy it without a PPI but I felt like it have enough car knowledge to look for the "major problem items".
Had my Independent shop look it over after I got it home and they gave it a clean bill of health. Anyway I do not see very many white ones, let a lone wit the blue interior (I personally love it) so I was just curious as to what other 996 owners thought of the deal? Thanks guys
I think you paid a fair price. Its in the ballpark of what Id expect for years and mileage. Where I have watched prices, cabriolets seem to go for less than an equivalent coupe, so that probably factors in to my assessment. Same car in a coupe would probably fetch a price in the low twenties.
Oh, by the way I think those rims are not original. Im not super knowledgeable, but I think they might be the lightweight rims from a 997. The 996.2 lightweight rims have a different profile on the spokes.
I think that's a pretty good deal, especially with your strict list of necessities and the location. You're right, there are just not many white ones. It's odd. White is a great color.
I thInk you did well. I passed on a white cab with blue interior last week because the back story on the car was too vague. The owner told me the IMS was done, that he had the whole car repainted because it had been keyed, and that he had raced the car in San Diego for a couple of years (casual racing).
when he couldnt quite come up with documentation, and wouldnt move on the price, I moved on.
I wasnt married to any one color. Silver was my first choice, seal grey second, and black third. I ended up paying $18k for a meticulously maintained quadruple black 00 that had everything done to it (IMS, RMS, clutch, water pump, new leather and carpet, new 19 wheel and Continental tires, new rotors and pads, etc etc etc. m
You did your homework, you found what you wanted. No sense looking back. Enjoy!
mine....
I think you got a good deal. She looks well cared for.
I believe you! I was doing a nationwide search for green exterior with grey as my excluded interior color and it took me just shy of 2.5 years + I had to walk away from a car I was sure was
the one
after the PPI mechanic said he could hear "tapping" after it warmed up. It can be an emotional journey, that's for sure. Glad it's behind us!
Thanks, you car looks awesome! I am not looking back as I have ZERO regrets, just curious what people thought. Its a toy, we got what we wanted so even if we over paid by 5k its still a good deal to us. Just curious....
Tell me about it DR! We started our Porsche search well over 3 years ago, if she has wanted silver, red, or black it would have taken three months instead lol.
In always start my search before Im ready to buy. You got what you wanted at a good price: that makes it a bargain. The only option I wanted and didnt get was the LSD.
LSD---Limited Slip Differential...I think it was only offered as an option on the 99. The 40th Anniversary cars have it as well. I assume none of the others have it?
