These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello All,
I have been presented with an opportunity to purchase my favourite 996, but it would require me to sell my car. I would love to get $25K CAD (~19.5K USD), but I may be a little optimistic. Here are the facts about my car:
1) Arctic silver over black interior, 04/98 build date
2) 69,000 miles
3) Very low option - only 18 inch twists and cd player (doubt low options adds value, but I love it)
4) Maintenance in my ownership (purchased in Aug 2016): 3 oil + filter changes, MAF sensor, engine mounts (RSS), air filter change, brake fluid and transmission fluid flush. new mufflers (fabspeed maxflos), replaced all clutch components, new flywheel, LN IMS, RMS, AOS, brand new continental tires, clean MY02 wheels, new hood struts and other small parts. I have all the records to support this.
5) I would rate the exterior 7.5-8/10 and the interior 8-9/10.
I think the car looks and sounds great and I honestly do not want to sell it, but a big bright Mk1 aero with an FSI engine is not an opportunity one gets everyday. Let me know what you guys think - Am I crazy or does this seem fair?
For the knowledgeable buyer looking for a silver car, I think ~$20k US is a fine price. You've clearly been a good steward during your ownership, and that is a big selling point for someone in the know looking for a 996. Early build date is great. The low options will turn off some buyers, but if it shows and drives well, I think your price is well justified.
It seems like you want to/have to sell it quickly. At that price I don't see it as a "quick sale". That's not to say that it isn't a fair price, but generally speaking, people are looking to steal these things. The fact that it's low on options doesn't help your cause. The fact that you've done a bunch of maintenance and preemptive work definitely does. Go ahead and list it, just don't jump at the inevitable low ball offers that will probably come out of the woodwork... Good luck
Thanks for the replies so far! Luckily, I do not need to sell it quickly since the seller of the other C2 is not looking for a quick sale at the moment and luckily it is not listed anywhere for sale. Forgot to mention I also did the plugs and coils.. and I am probably missing others. Nevertheless, you guys have made me feel much better about my price!
Bring-a-trailer with no reserve will yield a time-bound sale at the market price. If you present it well and stay engaged in the sales process, it will be sold within 2 weeks.
All over but the cryin then.
I've sold three cars on BaT and it's been a great experience every time.
Without the IMS doom and gloom, the nitpickers will have nothing to chat about, other than how great these early 996s are.
BTW--the yellow Aero car is hott. That is a car that is set to appreciate.
I have been playing with the idea of using BAT. Early 996s bring surprisingly strong dollars there and good presentation on there can bring a premium alone. Plus, it gets a much wider customer base!
I bought a very similar 99 last year in February in Edmonton.
Car had 117,000k, interior 9/10 exterior 7/10 arctic silver, low options, but did have full leather interior.
2 Major differences. Mine was a tiptronic so that knocks off a few thousand and I had no maintenance history with it. I paid 18,750.
Seems like a fair price.
What does the FSI get you over your current setup?
Your car isnt exactly easy to come by either. Early build, specific silver color, relatively low miles...if I were to upgrade it would have to be worth it and then some. Last thing you want is to think about letting your plain old stocker get away.
In all honesty, it is very hard to consider selling my 99. The car is simple and that is what I love most about it, plus I always said I would never let it go. I just imagine 10 years down the road tracking this car down so I can own it again. The car is only a slight drop and xpipe away from being what I would consider the perfect 996! If only I could afford both
I still need to contact FSI for details on what was completed.
Your price is absolutely fair considering you addressed the imsb disease that most buyers are infected with, plus the other maintenance. Low miles. Looks really clean. GLWS.
