Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While at a HPDE event this weekend at Summit Point - Main Track I experienced a heavy puff of smoke while accelerating out of turn 1 ( Hard Right ) on the first fast lap and did not happen again in the session. In the second session of the day it happened same thing. Is there a pressure release value built into the EGR system? I noticed no change in oil pressure, so i did not think the oil was pushing past the ring. Thoughts?

POST 2Original post

It doesn't have an EGR system. You probably have the oil filled to the top and it gulped some oil through the AOS (or the AOS if failing, plenty in search functon on this). I suggest you install a 2.0 quart deep sump and run it a few bars down from the top on the dash guage.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, The AOS was replaced 5k miles ago, but I was running the level to the top bar. I was concerned about oil starvation. I will look into a deep sump.

POST 4Original post

I had the same symptoms on the track....everyone said it was AOS. I lowered the level by sucking out the oil. Next time out on the track I blew my engine. It was oil starvation. I would definitely have a more serious look. Here is what the crank looked like.

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 15009752

Be sure to put a 2 quart deep sump and run the oil at the minimum level. Overfilling causes aeration and will kill the engine. More oil isn't always better. We get questions about this daily, so I put together a technical document covering this topic and have attached it to this thread.
