I have a 2004 996 black convertible that is showing is 14 years of ups and downs. My initial approach will be to use the Renovo product to restore (i.e. dye) the to If i get another season or two out of that it will be worth the investment in time and money. Eventually i will want a nice crisp new top. Not interested in going the DIY route as many brave souls have. I'm looking for a shop in the Westchester NY area that understands the intricacies of Porsche's convertible top mechanics. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

I recently did the Renovo to my blue top and while it does help the really bad areas still show. Overall it did darken and from a distance the top looks better but up close all of the rubbed areas still show.

If you're just going to replace the top and not the mechanical parts, you just need a good auto upholstery shop. I had mine done locally (Western Long Island, NY) two years ago. It was about $1800 all-in.

I am in the process of DIY to my Boxster now. The shops around here say they would charge $600 to replace it if I bring my own top. You could also go hard top and just forget about the convertible. I have only brought my soft top up once. My top was replaced by the PO for $4k.
