Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced the overflow tank a few years ago when the original sprung a leak.
Leading evidence: 'Replace overflow tank a few years ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace before failure' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used those clamps when I replaced my water pump and thermostat.

Suggestion
Old plastic gets brittle and should be replaced before failure.

They helped reduce how much coolant I had to use...and they also got in the way a bunch!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks like the diagram is showing passenger side on the left.

Also after a second look, you can see yours broke at some point and someone DIY'd a temp fix.
What's the red stuff?
The pink is actually NEW coolant (old coolant was orange). So it's not a matter of loosening that bottom hose clamp and pushing the white tube down farther into the rubber connector?
Looks like the plastic connector is cracked, part #16 here.. part # 99913705240

It is inserted all the way, it is suppose to have that much space between the rubber.
I would think cracked, 20yo brittle plastic cracking much more likely than cracked rubber. You can pressure test to confirm, or just replace to $2 part..
Ordered two from a nearby dealer - $2.80 each, will have them on Monday or Tuesday.
Any tips on getting the old one out and the new one in, without spilling coolant all over the place??
Slow down, I think you are replacing something that isn't the problem. I think the coolant is dripping from the overflow tank that's above this hose junction.
It looks like someone rigged that fix...It's tough to tell from your photo, but I'm pretty sure it's the part I listed in my last post. It's a hose with integrated/molded "T"'s on it. You can try to fix it again if you like, but I'd recommend getting a new part...
It's not rigged, that's they way they come. You have the right hose but, the plastic fitting goes into the small part of the "T" and then rubber hose to AOS.
Maybe, but I have seen this plastic fitting crack many times, just like the one on the other end near the alternator that has the aftermarket metal replacement, or the brass fitting that many people use.. But the plastic will last another 10-20 years..lol
I should have taken a photo from a little farther away. I replaced the overflow tank a few years ago when the original sprung a leak. It's definitely leaking from that connection, hopefully it's the white plastic connector tube with a crack right above the hose clamp.
Get some of these clamps, put on all three hoses, you won't loose but an ounce of coolant and not have to drain and vacuum fill. Done in 5 minutes..

I have some Craftsman, some from Harbor Freight, and some from Autozone.
They all work the same so find the cheapest set of

that you can find.
We have a winner! Turns out the leak was from the relief valve where it mounts to the tank. My mechanic said the bolts were loose, hopefully tightening them will seal the thing up. Shouldn't there be some kind of gasket between the bolted on valve and the tank?
