I removed my front bumper to clean out the debris from the front radiators and condenser, re-route the emergency frunk pull cable so its reachable, and replace the horns that were bad.

Its likely one or both are out, but you can easily test these, or just buy new ones because they are so cheap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2001 996, noticed today that when I attempted to turn my headlights on the switch wouldn't move into that position (furthest position clockwise). I played around with it for a while and finally got it to move that far clockwise so lights came on, but then couldn't move it full motion counterclockwise. I am assuming that this means I need to replace that switch, is that an accurate assessment or should I do something else? Also, I've seen a few cupholders that sit snugly into ashtray location, anyone have any suggestions and links to where these can be purchased? And finally, my horn has stopped working. I can push on the steering wheel and I hear a clicking sound, but no horn sound. I also noticed at the same time that the horn which sounds when I lock the car (which I think is a totally different horn) also isn't working. Ideas?

POST 2Original post

I can tell you about the horns. There are two horns at the front bumper, a high tone and a low tone. Its likely one or both are out, but you can easily test these, or just buy new ones because they are so cheap. I removed my front bumper to clean out the debris from the front radiators and condenser, re-route the emergency frunk pull cable so its reachable, and replace the horns that were bad. You might not need to remove the front bumper to replace the horns, so I would check that.
