Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Greetings,
I bought this car in November 2018 and it had a aftermarket base speaker and two amplifiers in the frunk that took up much of the space to put anything into that area. The factory piece that was suppose make a nice flat carpeted surface was gone as well as the foam jack holder that went in the spare tire. My car is a 2001 Carrera 4. None of the speakers in the car were factory as well. It was all replaced with this no manufacturer name junk, and sounded terrible! It's has all now been replaced with factory Porsche speakers and factory Porsche amplifier and they even added a Becker Bluetooth to my radio and it sounds amazing! I'm happy to have my Frunk back too! It must have weighed fifty poundsof junk and was all blown out! Such crap! All gone now.... YAY!
Happy camper!
That's a lot of "well designed junk" there. The mount bracket is well designed although not that difficult/expensive to make. But the bass speaker enclosure that fits into the spare tire looks to be "injection molded'? Man, those Chinese !!!
Right !! If ya gonna do it, do it right !! Take the whole back seat out and build in the whole area and put a big 15 in there with a monster kicker !!! lol
Well I'm one of those guys who has a monster stereo system in my Porsche and I love it. But I get how some don't, but perhaps the previous owner was working on making a kit for our cars to market and sell. I had a friend who has done that with a few different types of cars/set ups. Just thinking out loud as the stuff does look like some thought went into it.
A great use for this sound system in the frunk is to get a wireless microphone and allow the car to "talk" to people like the robots at Disneyland. lol
Great lines at Porsche events...
"Please forgive the weird ticking noises from my rear!"
"How would you like your fried eggs?"
"My **** name is Pinky Lai"
"Have you ever had your bore scored BIG BOY?"
"31 modes of failure and counting... Guinness book where are you?!"
"Figure out my radio code and get an autographed book about the Becker radio company called, "Sound of Silence"
"HELP!!!! I'm locked out of myself!!!"
"HAL is my hero!"
"Yes, I'm the 996, the one that got the shaft!"
"986, 996, and 997.1 = The Three IMSgoes"
ttt123,
You may be on to something there as the brackets were made from Simpson Strong Ties which are used for the construction of homes and various construction uses! The stereo was just awful and the car was first owned by someone who leased it for two years. So maybe it was their test bed. The speakers in the cabin were 1970's speaker technology the stereo shop said. Some of the parts I was able to get from Porsche such as the Amplifier and a couple of speakers. The rest of the speakers came from a breaking yard as did the wiring loom because they cut the plug in the wiring loom off and wired the amplifiers into them. What a butcher job. Just in case you're wondering it cost me over $2000 thousand dollars to get this all sort out and just about a months time at the shop. Haas Entertainment in Culver City, CA does very top notch work and is recommend by just about everyone in the car industry including the dealerships.
