Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I know it's not to everyone's taste, but it's clean, simple, everything has a purpose and everything (apart from the window switch) falls close to hand..
Leading evidence: 'Clean simple' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean simple' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So after 2 years, 30 possibles,10 PPI's and multiple bid situations. I finally found the right (for me) 996.
I've had a model on my desk of a 996 C4S for years, and and spent ages looking for the right one, when I had the realization that I had to find the best possible car for my budget vs. finding a C4S that was within the range. That lead me to re-calibrating the search and finding the car with the right maintenance history, options and a private party sale where I could get a good feel for the previous owner.
Long story short, I found and bought what I hope is the right car this weekend, 10 miles from my house.

Previous owner who was obviously an enthusiast who'd taken great care of the car and had receipts from his and the previous owners maintenance work
I've only had it a few days, but it's by far and away the most rewarding driving experience I've had in a road car. Coming out of a B8 S4, and having owned a bunch of performance oriented cars (Prelude, G35 Coupe, CLK550,, GC SRT8), I just love the linear, mechanical nature of the 996. It's may not be as powerful as some of the other cars I've had, but it's a is much more connected driving experience.
I also like the interior. I know it's not to everyone's taste, but it's clean, simple, everything has a purpose and everything (apart from the window switch) falls close to hand..
Finally, I got to wash it this weekend for the first time, and even though this is the narrow body, when you get up close to wash it, the body lines and curves are just fantastic.
I know I'm in the new-to-me car honeymoon phase, but I just wanted to share my first impressions, and also thank everyone on this forums for answering my multiple questions, inquiries, and general lingering prior to making a purchase. It's a great group on here, and I look forward to being a more frequent contributor.
(I'll try and post better quality pics soon)
I know most folks only get excited about odd colors, but i love me some blk/blk -- looks well optioned too. I love my C4s, but i think the C2 is the more quintessential 911 experience. enjoy the heck out of it, the honeymoon phase hasn't ended for me and I'm nearing a year in.
I hope you don't have any cats. I do and the first week I had my car it jumped onto the hood and slid all the way down leaving nice scratches. I wanted to kill it but my wife stopped me and reminded me that my daughter would be very upset if she ever found out I did it. So the cat lives on and remarkably has never done it again. I think it knows somehow to stay away from the C4 now.

Isn't your window switch right next to you?
Congrats, these cars look great in black over black. I've had my car over a year and still can't get over that its in my driveway! I also hunt for the window switch when I first get in it. Old habits (window switch on the door), die hard.
You did the research, had patience, and bought a car that has been cared for. You're all set up for a great ownership experience.
I joined the PCA. I have been pleasantly surprised by how much I appreciate my membership so far. Something to keep in mind.
Thanks for all the comments, and well wishes. I'm excited.
As far as the window switch, I think it's more that I'm so used to it being on the left side by the door that it'll just take a while to adjust to the center placement. So not that it isn't close at hand, but more placement familiarity.
Thanks Mike - that's actually next on my list. The shop that did the PPI had a bunch of PCA guys just hanging out there and I'm going to get the membership sorted this weekend.
