Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also disconnected the line at the fuel regeneration valve back on the motor and put some air through it, which again, built pressure in the system, let it sit a few minutes while checking around, and i couldnt hear any leaks.

I've been ignoring it by resetting the CEL but I need to fix it long term.

all this hassle for something that doesnt actually make the car run better.

first replaced the fuel cap because the seal did have alot of cracking. no change...
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Been chasing the random check engine light and p0455 code (gross leak/no flow). first replaced the fuel cap because the seal did have alot of cracking. no change... then after some research, decided to try the fuel tank vent valve on the fuel filler hose. didnt see any damaged lines etc while i was in there with wheel and wheelwell out.
a few hundred miles later, the engine light is back on, same code(and only code) car seems to run fine. and fuel tank fills fine with no issues.
its a sealed system obviously. and when i remove the fuel cap, the system is pressurized. you can hear air moving through the filler neck for a bit after removal of the cap. i assume it should be this way? I also disconnected the line at the fuel regeneration valve back on the motor and put some air through it, which again, built pressure in the system, let it sit a few minutes while checking around, and i couldnt hear any leaks. once i remove the fuel cap, pressure is released again OUT the filler neck.
so i have a hard time believing the gross leak part of the code. maybe there is a no flow, and its building TO MUCH pressure, or vaccum in the system? Shouldnt there be a valve letting the pressure equalize somehow? as with most things, as the car takes fuel out of the tank, air would need to be able to come in from somewhere, so that the pump can keep pulling fuel out without killing itself trying to suck the sides of the tank in... but figure a sealed system has a valve so that none can go back out, only in?
any brilliant ideas where/what that vent would be? atleast, assuming im on the right track that is.
I will say i havent had to deal with to many nonvented systems. most of my stuff is old and vented, or the evap stuff has long been simply removed by now lol.
Thanks, been looking at that first link a few times previously trying to decipher things. I hadnt seen the second one. and the pelican parts one, i used to replace that vent valve originally.
it would be great if i found something that had a better description of what each valve does. or even which way the system flows through stuff! been looking at this link awhile to trying to decide where to go from what ive done already.

I've had exactly the same problem and swapped out my old cracked seal gas cap and still dealing with it, same symptoms as yours. I've been ignoring it by resetting the CEL but I need to fix it long term.
It's a pain in the rear. all this hassle for something that doesnt actually make the car run better. just to get that light to stop coming on once in awhile...
