And as far as the assembly screws, I saw one head was busted clean off with just the bolt left.

I am changing out the pads and rotors (all around) on my 'new to me' baby this weekend. Any special tools needed? When I had my Cayenne, it had this large star bit that was required. Thanks in advance.

Nothing special needed at all. It really is pretty straightforward and simple. I would make sure you have a few new replacement screws for the rotors...they tend to strip if they haven't been out before. Not the threads but the phillips head. Have some brake cleaner on hand to clean things up. Also make sure the rotor to axle part is very clean and smooth. I find a good wire brush takes care of that. New caliper bolts are recommended.

Got the new bolts. And as far as the assembly screws, I saw one head was busted clean off with just the bolt left. I didn't look at the others. I find an impact screwdriver works great for those.

OP, Correct about the star bolt heads for the updated caliper bolts. Just replaced rears today. Used PB Blaster on the retaining screws. Check/adjust parking brake while I was in there. Caliper bolts are 63 ft-lbs/85 NM.

If my memory isn�t failing me, that �large star bit� you need for the bolt holding the caliper to the upright is a torx T55.
