Suggestion

If it has adhesive on it, it's probably from a previous owner doing some makeshift repair on it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I went to open my door today and i found that the door panel light popped out the door, I tried to lightly push it into place and from what I see it appears that there is some sort of adhesive that has worn out. Has anyone else had this issue before? (I will include pictures tomorrow morning)

There's a tab on the light enclosure that snaps onto the door panel. Most likely it's broken there.

POST 3Original post

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I attached some pics of what it looks like, would you be able to point out where it is broken for me?

POST 5Original post

This happened in our boxster...don't remember if the tab broke or not but I do remember it wasn't tight in the hole so the tabs did not hold in place. I just wrapped electrical tape around the tabs and popped in....been there since.

No, but I did recently come out of the bathroom and my wife said, "Hunni, your junk is hanging out!" Now mind you, I didn't know what she meant by "junk". Guess she learned it from social media or something. But when I looked down, I figured it out pretty quick. I'm glad she warned me instead of my colleagues at work.

POST 7Original post

For $11.71 I would just buy a new one and move on. #6 here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=903-04

POST 10Original post

Not sure a new one will solve the problem....the pictures seem to show that the light is not broken...if it is not the same thing will happen with the new one. So be fore you buy one check to see if any of the clips are broken...if not...the whole is too big

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For the short run, I put electrical tape around the light and it sits flush with the hole. There is a piece that is broken on the light, I'll have to wait till I get more time to open the panel and see what needs to be fixed. Thanks for all the help!

^^This is what it looked like to me - the door panel is just a heavy "cardboard" so if that light was pulled out and re-installed several times it's possible that the cutout has been enlarged/worn out. Electrical tape may be a little heavy handed (and will probably wind up making the problem worse). I would try teflon plumbers tape - throw a few wraps on the light and pop it back in there - it should stay... Glue is not recommended - if you do have to replace the light/bulb, the glue will pose a problem.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, i should add the sticky side of the tape was on the light not the door panel itself. Once i get the time I will switch to teflon
