Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2003 C2 Cab. It fulfills all my needs. I have looked at the newer 997s, 991s. None of the newer cars add anything for me. After 5 years, and 84k miles I still wander into the garage at times, pull up a chair and gaze for a few minutes. I even love the headlights. I found this YouTube which expresses a lot of my feelings. If you have not seen it, enjoy: You Tube Please ignore the sheepskins. I have had them on all my Pcars for over 35 years.

POST 2Original post

Unapologetic about the headlights, the engine that randomly grenades, the anything. Don't give a ****. I love my 996. Tomorrow morning I'm going to perform a couple of routine maintenance items on her, and I can't fing wait. After that I will then spend the rest of the day putting miles on her and smiles on my face.

POST 3Original post

The ironic thing about the headlights actually make the car unique. Seems like people still hold a grudge against these cars lmao.

POST 4Original post

I live in florida. My brother lives in colorado. When he found out i got my C4S he busted my chops about the fried eggs. He just moved back to florida and saw the car today in person. He was drooling and begging to drive it. He is in the market for a car. I wonder what he may buy now?

POST 5Original post

I didn't know the headlights were a 'problem' until I started reading these forums on the 996. They never gave me a concern. I still don't have any real feelings one way or the other. I guess since it is the only 911 with those unique lights, I've decided I'm happy with them. Nice cabs.

POST 6Original post

Didnt you hear all those folks whining about those headlights on the GT1......? Yeah, me neither.

Your car is stunning by the way! Could not agree more, love the car and the performance. Learned about the headlights after I bought the car. Absolutely no one other than Pcar snobs or collectors have any idea what I am talking about when I bring it up. Keep the positive vibes coming!

POST 8Original post

You must have impeccable taste. Your car could be a double for mine-'02, Guards Red, same style wheels (mine are from a 997, as the car came with lobsters which were terrible for the ride). I did install H&R's and Bilsteins, yours looks stock? Beautiful car, and I envy the fact that you can drive yours now. Mine is still in hibernation, waiting for the rains of spring to wash all the nasty salt from our roads.

You have a good eye and are right. Stock suspension. New stock motor mounts this year and transmission insert upgrade only.

POST 10Original post

Put on the turbo decklid and it will look a lot better. I was very happy with my C4S when i got it. But after 9 months and a lot of add on, i enjoy every second of this car. BEFORE AFTER

how would you know. Its not like you have a car with them.....trader! 😂

Well, I do for at least the next 5 days...😁

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 15708590

That just shows how much people are just parroting what they've heard somewhere else. The turbo style lights are not fried eggs; That's the 996.1 with the yellow yolk signals at the bottom. Nobody called the turbo/996.2 headlights fried eggs unless they are just repeating what they think other people call them.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 15709949

I actually prefer the MKI lights (Like the GT1) regardless of whether they have the "yolks"(aren't Yolks supposed to be in the middle of the egg?) or not. In any case, My '99 C4 never had the yolks so I guess I've got fried egg whites...

POST 17Original post

I agree completely, I love my 996, granted I don't have much to compare it to besides the drivers ed car, but still, I love the way it drives, even if most of my suspension is worn.

POST 18Original post

I almost feel embarrassed to say it......but every weekend when i detail my car i find my self grabbing a chair and sitting and looking at every inch of the car for hours after then run my hand down the paint to feel how slick it is. The feeling will never get old.

I know what you mean, although its been a while since I've been able to do that since I only wash my car to get the salt off. I like the dirty look. to quote a friend of mine. These cars are meant to be driven, not just looked at

The best part of my day is driving to work and the twisty up hill route home!

This deck lid looks fantastic!!! I would be interested to know more about it. Cost, did you install or did you have it installed, does it match perfectly etc. Doesn't interfere with the top, things like that.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 15713592

See my thread https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...o-decklid.html From my understanding this will ONLY work for the 996 C4S cabs. No coupe c4s and no narrow body cabs. At your own risk for those. My thread pretty much answers all. But i got the decklid in the matching color off ebay for $1,000. It was an EASY bolt on that i did my self. When i say easy i am talking seconds. Connectors are the same for the spoilers. some mods have to be made depending on if your are stock under hood or modded. if stock the rams for the spoiler hit the air box and air pump but the fans fits. My car has a fabspeed intake so it fit like a glove except the fan which i relocated. and no issue at all with top operation.

There is no problem with the 996's... the problem is with the owners... Not everybody has the founded personality to own a 996 (I really mean it)
