But for simply hot tanking and pressure testing the heads I was hoping I could find someone local.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Posted this in the West Coast Regional forum but I don't think there is much traffic over there, so: I pulled apart a 996 motor recently and need some head work done. I'm looking for a Machine Shop in the San Jose, CA area. Prefer one who knows both air and water cooled engines. Unfortunately, both machine shops I have used in the past have closed (Owners retired) Can anyone recommend a shop in my area who can hot tank parts and test them? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Just send the heads to Len Hoffman. He is THE water cooled Porsche heads expert.

I most likely will send the heads to him for the valve job and possible porting work. But for simply hot tanking and pressure testing the heads I was hoping I could find someone local. I don't want to send two heads off to GA from CA just to find they are both bad. Thanks for the suggestion though.
