Suggestion · Original poster

Probably the most likely mod will be a sports exhaust, especially as I believe for the 996 you can get one with a switch to change between standard and sporty exhaust note on demand.

You can change the PSE from regular to sport exhause and back again with the push of a button if the wiring and switch are installed.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks, Just wanted to say Hi. I've been a 964 owner for a few years now, and this week took the plunge and purchased a 994 C4 Cabriolet. Absolutely love the car so far. Anyway I guess i'll be on the 996 forum now as well as the 964 one. As is customary, I have attached a couple of pictures of the car. Al.

POST 2Original post

Al - Congrads and welcome to the 996 side! Nice looking p-car. I sure do like the look of the rear end without the bumperettes. Do you have any Mods planned?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't have any planned, but then again I said that with the 964 and it din't take long before i changed my mind. Probably the most likely mod will be a sports exhaust, especially as I believe for the 996 you can get one with a switch to change between standard and sporty exhaust note on demand. ( I may have dreamt that). Al.

POST 4Original post

Welcome, and do the sports exhaust as soon as possible. The sound is enchanting, and every day without it is one day too long.

POST 5Original post

No, you didn't dream that. You can change the PSE from regular to sport exhause and back again with the push of a button if the wiring and switch are installed.

POST 6Original post

Just expeeeeeensive unless you can DYI Official Porsche shops will charge you 8 hours to install and wire the system with electronics And welcome!!!!

POST 7Original post

Hi and welcome, another 964 to 996 owner !!! as i am... PSE is the best Hi-Fi for your car and your ears... mine was only 2 1/2 hours labour for the electronics... so it is worth doing it... as well you can have the "cheat" installed so that tha sound of the PSE will go on through all speeds......10-20-40-60-120-160MPH!!!!! trylly amazing!!!!!

POST 8Original post

sorry, i forgot to mention..2 1/2 hours labour for the the electronics at an OPC center....athens-greece

POST 9Original post

I've asked 2 OPC centers, each looking in their books and saying 8 hours.... Got to try a non-OPC Porsche specialist. I wonder if they got some kind of unofficial "this job we will charge X hours for" list that they look in.

POST 11Original post

Hallo! I am a Porsche owner again, and I love this forum. You all have very nice cars, mine is a -00 996cab and I love it. I have attached a couple of pictures of the car.

POST 12Original post

Welcome New guys, There is a wealth of info on this site, Allot of the sponsors are your smart choice to deal with, as they are part of the community. Both Very nice cars Congrarts and enjoy!

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the kind comments and welcome. The 996 is a completely different car to the 964, and given the choice of having to travel any distance its a no brainer, the 996 wins every time. Its not as "raw" as the 964, and tends to hide the speed you are really travelling, but (for now) I am lucky enough to be able to swap between the two. I have a feeling though that with the new arrival of the 996 the 964 is going to be neglected somewhat. Thanks again.

POST 16Original post

Welcome!! Nice cars everyone! Let the madness begin ..
