Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hot off the press!! Ok My 04 C2 is going in for the 4th time for the RMS, I am not bitter, it happens. Well back to the point , I just got off the phone with Porsche and they informed me that there was yet another new tool and seal. This id the 4th update on the combo from Porsche, I doubt it will work but i guess they are trying to rectify this issue.I asked for part numbers, but they are NA at this time. The new tool and seal should be hitting PCNA in the next week or so. Can anyone else chime in here to verify this? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I bet Tool Pants would know, or can get that info. This is very interesting. I don't quite understand how they think a new tool/seal will fix this problem. Have they ever measured your concentricity and if so, what was it? Just curious as to why you have not been a previous candidate for engine replacement? How many miles are on your car at this point?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Robyn, My car has Approx 22,000 miles , The truth is I could have opted for the new Engine, but my car runs really ,really, really, strong......REALLY! I don't want to mess with that.I know i will be pissed if i get the car back and its noticeably slower.A few drops of oil on the garage flow bothers me allot less then having a slower car. I am getting a new 997 TT (on the orderlist) , so I am just going to change the motor until its closer to being traded in. Yes they have measured , ALL 3 times and they are insisting its fine...How is your little oil problem anyways??

POST 5Original post

That's crazy that they measure, and it has leaked three additional times. I can understand your hesitation with regard to the engine replacement. However, in each of the replacements I've had (and I have had....oh...FOUR!! ), each has felt better than the last. But, still I completely understand. Awesome that you have a 997TT on order, I am way jealous, they are too pricey for me. My lil problem should be rectified by this weekend. The shop has been so busy they havent had time to work on my poor lil baby. It looks like it's the main oil feed line to the crank, however, we are unable to get to it because of the SC. We have to remove some components of the SC first. This weekend I should be back and running! Woohoo!!!

POST 6Original post

I don't believe in a cure for RMS. What affects the concentricity? Why can't that be measured more closely at factory? Why can't the linkage between tranny and engine be redesigned so that this does not need to be so critical?

POST 7Original post

I haven't seen a new tool yet but the new seal is: 997 101 212 00
