There is no "right to be not offended", in fact this is a talking point often used by the Right ...
Leading evidence: 'Use by the right' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'lot better than you' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace channel' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Really not funny in today's context about hinting that not only did the "woman" have an accident that of course the "man" would have avoided but also that she is going to be subjected to violence by
her spouse. Not cool.
I agree that jokes about women are completely inappropriate and shouldn't be tolerated in 2019, which is why in my currently justifiable triggered state I'd like to lighten up the atmosphere here and share a joke about glass.
Do you know to blind a female?
Put her in the driver's seat behind a windshield! *
* Disclaimer: I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to all glass, those that identify as glass, those of any one of 68 genders that feel trapped beneath a glass ceiling, and the optimistic half-empty glass to my right that believes it's half-full that I may have offended.
VIOLENCE, not really....you try "beating your wife" and you'll wind up the worse for wear....I'TS A JOKE SON
My wife backed into the front of my 280 SL many years ago, Iheard the crash, knew exactly what had happened...then NOTHING..a half hour later she said, UMMM we have to talk about somethng.......
She reminded me about this after seeing the Original Post
Rennlist is a community , there are members from all over the world , of all political stripes , religions and yes of both sexes
there is nothing that can make an online community turn toxic faster than poor taste comments about gender, race , politics , religion and nationality .
The rennlist community is strong because it historically has avoided these pitfalls that have killed other forums .
We have to ask ourselves , what kind of community do we want to be a part of ?
Jokes are fine , I did stand up for a couple years , in that environment you learn where the line is .
id say jokes even suggesting beating your wife go over it.
If this community decides the other way , it may be the end of it for many.
This community is the best 996 forum on the internet , it's worth protecting .
its either welcoming for everybody or it's not
otherwise it could slipery slope into thread after thread of Godwin's law
respectfully

Politically Correct version -
Owner - "You won't believe it! My wife just wrecked my Porsche!"
Friend - "Oh no, is she hurt?"
Owner - "Of course she's hurt! We already begun the process of suing Porsche of America, Michelin tire company, and Takata for the airbags."
Friend - "Um, wait just a minute... Takata didn't make airbags for Porsche!"
Owner - "They made them for BMW, that's close enough!"
((drum rim shot))) crickets crickets (((face palm)))
Lighten up people. No where in that joke did it advocate physically hitting a female. Heck, this day in time the "wife" could have been really a cybernetic or imaginary figure of some kind.
My wife did too! No telling how many times my wife says stuff like, "if you don't put that toilet seat down I'm going to rip your leg off and beat you with the bloody end!" hahahaha
What if the dude is a certain religion that advocates beating your wife..... now you are descriminating against that religion. I know you dont want to do that.
This is actually a really good example of why political correctness is stupid. Would it be better if it was a teenage son that wrecked the Porsche?
Its a joke.....
Thank you for this.
The golden rule in good comedy:
Always punch up, never punch down.
And to the soy commenter: we see you, were watching what you do and we wont let you poison this forum.
The fragile, easily triggered, humorless, perpetually outraged, virtue signaling SJW crowd is apparently among us. Don't look at them or that too will cause triggering, but they're right behind you doing what they do best. It's just what they do.

I'm Canadian , a country in which making jokes about Americans is an industry unto itself .it doesn't matter if youre on the right or left, northern or southern , we make fun of all Americans regularly , and sharply.
do I post them here ? No , because that wouldn't make me a good guest , potentially offending the American forum host and many in the community .
it's not about some misguided social justice "snowflake" agenda .
its something as old fashioned as good manners and belonging to a community .
if that makes me subject to mockery , so be it .
That was a funny story! Thanks for sharing that. This quip regarding acquiescing to the whims of the offended party was especially appropriate in this situation: "We shouldn't take it down just because somebody doesn't like it."
This bugs me a little bit.... Speaking just for myself... I just can't think of more than one or two times in my entire life I've seen a woman driving a Porsche. I don't know what the stats are, but I'm guessing less than 5% of Porsches are driven by women? And generally speaking, is anyone going to suggest that women have the same appreciation for expensive sports cars more than guys? And from that, is it crazy to suggest that women - generally speaking - are just not as interested in cars as mechanical and aesthetic objects deserving special care and attention as guys? And that - generally speaking - they might be a little less concerned about paying attention to warning lights or odd noises or little signs of trouble - say, tensioner belt noises - that could lead to very expensive repairs if not caught early? I GUESS I've impugned women, here, but is there really NO basis for my doing so? I'm not saying they're not as smart, you know...
Not sure what you are getting at here.
I guess my wife must fall in the 5%. This is her, driving
her
Porsche. I'm going to guess you don't even have a girlfriend...
This 'joke' evokes the image of a woman, cowering terrified in the bathroom, powerless to avert the fate that awaits her. Its not remotely funny. I'm disappointed that a majority of Rennlisters (perhaps the usual vocal minority?) seem okay with this. 'Jokes' of this caliber normalize this bestial behavior.
Same here, it is definitely HER Porsche! It was her anniversary gift, and she completely came up with the idea she wanted a white convertible (non negotiable lol) on her own. Also I am not sure where that guy is located but I would say its about 50/50 when I see another Porsche if its a male or female driving. Bet he also expects his wife to have dinner waiting when he gets home too lmao.
Be Polictically correct or they’ll turn you in ? Why don’t you maybe not look or go to other site? If I see Canadian Jim Carey on I change the channel. Nothing wrong with that text joke so kick me if you will but the PC, crybaby’s will have their way. Freedom of Speech is what you Canadians don’t have so don’t push your agenda with me.

A joke about a man about to beat his wife , way to keep it classy
[/QUOTE]
Get your minds out of the gutter people, or maybe into the gutter for a harmless joke, no women where beaten do to this accident!
In Hawaii, the woman do some beating on their men
How do we know if the guys wife is even a "female"?
Political correctness has gone to far!
Did we disturb your safe space? Grow a pair, son.
It's a fvcking joke. No one is forcing you to laugh at it, or even think it's remotely funny. Pushing your agenda on those that see it for what it truly is - a joke - makes you look foolish.

For those interested in some perspective, read Peggy Noonan's editorial in the Wall Street Journal yesterday; it is right on target about this debate.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/get-rea...on-11552003346
Excerpt: " The air is full of accusation and humiliation. We have seen this spirit most famously on the campuses, where students protest harshly, sometimes violently, views they wish to suppress. Social media is full of swarming political and ideological mobs. In an interesting departure from democratic tradition, they don’t try to win the other side over. They only condemn and attempt to silence. "
Please don't use logic and freedom of speech on these clowns, their little minds will explode. I find these tantrums thrown in a futile attempt to limit freedom of speech rather humorous. It far exceeds any humor in the original joke which was lacking. This thread delivers though. Nice job snowflakes. Your tears bring me smiles.
Im a Canadian who chose to become an American. I will never stop living my life looking at everything with some humour (humor). That said, our skins have thinned recently and thats too bad. All the greatest humor of the past touched on something that would outrage someone today.
Now to the real meat of my post. My wife had a 1986 944Turbo which she loved but now she drives a 2016 Corvette with the A6 and at this time of her life she prefers that. Thats why I got my 996, so I could drive a real sports car! (no offense to the Corvette, its a great car that needs a manual transmission).
A joke about a man about to beat his wife , way to keep it classy
If you're looking for 'classy', try the opera or the Joffrey Ballet, Sir Outrageously Outraged. It's a publicly accessible website. Don't like the Neanderthals on the site? Go visit Greenpeace.Org, and talk about baby seals, or something.
No need for us to insult you. Being Canadian seems burden enough to carry.
Canada. Like Wisconsin, only larger and less interesting.
Rennlist and its members arent the government. Do you know that Freedom of Speech refers to the publics freedom from government intervention?
You are the real snowflake if you are so triggered when someone asks that we keep it classy, or keep the joke threads (not all jokes, just the joke threads) to the appropriate forum.
Nobody is preventing yiur your freedom of speech. I come here for 996 content (which this is not). Jokes in tech threads? Sure. Joke threads? Get them out of here.

We all have expiriences which inform our perspectives . In September of 1993 , I was serving with 2PPCLI in the medak pocket region of Croatia .
We were under a UN peacekeeper banner ,UNPROFOR blue berets etc. our mission was to prevent outbreaks of what the media dubbed " ethnic cleansing "
there was a documentary made about the events that happened .
You Tube
at the 35 minute mark of this film , you'll see that after an intense firefight , we pushed into a village where we thought the civilian population was being eliminated .
we found the bodies of two young girls we believed had been held in a room and subjected to all kinds of horrors before their bodies were burned with gasoline . I was one of those tasked with body recovery . The bones of their legs were still so hot they melted the body bags . We cooled them with bottled water . My fatigues smelled like burnt flesh , gas and plastic for 3 days .
On my second tour , I had qualified as a medic , assigned to assist physicians in a field hospital . We treated 200 women who survived horrific physical and sexual abuse , the youngest was 8 , the oldest 75
so if my speaking out about making jokes about violence against women makes me a snowflake , I'll take that as a compliment
Thanks for sharing this experience, and for your service. Its truly eye opening to be reminded of what humans are capable of.
I'll similarly wear the 'snowflake' moniker with pride.
Thank you for your service, Vancouver. What a horrible experience.
Not saying you are doing it, but drawing a connection between crimes against humanity is a far stretch from an internet joke.
Well , when I hung up my green shirt , for two years I put on a white one with a saint johns cross on it
one out of every 5 ambulance call outs , was related to a domestic violence incident .
All that happened in my 20's , I'm almost 50 now so , i hope I can be forgiven for my lack of ha ha when it comes to this issue
this is a technical forum .
Ill be sticking to that going forward .
Thanks, Scott. You just summed up what took me several long paragraphs to write, including some very colorful adjectives. I ultimately chose not to post it. A LOT of people have experienced violent gore and death that still haunts us during idle moments of thought, and of course... the nitemares. Sometimes even a smell can trigger those thoughts, but you don't try to silence the smell. But sharing details here of very personal experiences is refvckingdiculous by any reasonable standard of measure. And to then attempt to leverage those terrible experiences by drawing a parallel where one does not truly exist in an attempt to gain traction in the context of the humor in the original post as a pretext to silence others over a harmless (yup, HARMLESS) joke... is shameful. Don't like the joke? Don't laugh. Triggered by the subject matter? Time for some introspection and self-evaluation. Silencing others because you don't approve of the subject matter isn't going to happen. Ever.
I'm done here.
---------------------
Nope, not done here.
Do you know why you never buy a woman a watch?
There's a clock on the stove, damn it!
Stand by for more outrage by those white knighting for stoves... and timepieces.
okay, now I really am done here. Fini
Thank you for your continued service. Domestic violence is a very serious issue. Obviously, I have no solution - intervention and education would be my starting point.
Each of us will take everything we see or read differently. Each person's experiences result in different takes on this same joke.
My take was this was a made-up story by someone that found a photo of a smashed Porsche. At no time did I think that physical harm would be inflicted on any person (female or male). There was nothing there, in my mind, to reach such a conclusion. Allowing one's imagination to run wild and extrapolate to an extreme is, in my view, a strange way to go through life. To take this a step further, and project one's perception onto others is flat out wrong. I'm not pointing at you, Zac. This is just my belief. Those that preach tolerance tend to be very hypocritical. True tolerance would be to realize the joke may have been 'off-color', and move on. You don't have to laugh, and you certainly don't have to like the
potential
"implication".
Regarding how technical this forum truly is, is debatable. There are plenty of posts with little or no, technical content. Should we flag them and have them removed? Or maybe we could leave it to the reader to decide which to look at and participate in? Personally, I don't mind an occasional non sequitur.
Sums up my thoughts on this as well.
I've got some good ethnic jokes...To soon?
And FYI, I grew up as a minority and was picked on because of my skin color (white guy in Hawaii) go figure that one out.
Indeed. You have covered beating women so why not the holocaust, slavery or child molestation next? Your logic (and your #covfefe brothers) seems to be that since no children were actually molested, no harm right?
Comedy is all about the surprise, the reveal of which is what makes it funny (or not). In this case, the surprise is that a woman is about to get beaten. In sum, if this particular prospect is appealing to you then get some help.
For those of us that have served and seen horrors, sometimes what others see as humor just makes us cringe. Nevertheless I have stopped trying to to explain this to others because there is no way they can appreciate that feeling in our guts. The joke made my lip curl and then all I saw was a terrified woman hiding in bathroom.
If you clowns dont lighten up, Im going to have to go back to college and get a PhD in social science. My dissertation will use this thread to prove the correlation between middle age, Porsches, political correctness and being a wimp. I wont be able to feed my family with that degree or dissertation, but I can probably get lots of cred on TV and in the news.
Stop believing all the crap you see in the MSM.
We once had a few people over for dinner, and I mentioned that I didn't care for a specific kind of ethnic food. A couple people got angry and said I was not allowed to say that! Isn't speech protected (except employment laws, libels, laws, etc.)? Are jokes "Speech"?
Let's test it: "I prefer the look of the C4S over the AE." Is this a microaggression against someone, will the car be offended, will this post get deleted?
You've traveled well off the trail here. You are also choosing to impose unreasonable assumptions on those that can find humor in
an internet joke
.
Please enlighten us on what
is
funny. Maybe start by telling us where you received your degree.in Comedic Studies.
This post will avoid 'you' and 'I', which is typically best in cases where feelings and emotions are at play. People have coping mechanisms that sometimes are hard to deal with on rational basis. Comedy, and humor are always subjective, and that's often why humor works, or doesn't work. In the modern state, where things get off the rails starts when a group(typically a minority, but not by necessity) of like minded people with similar backgrounds begins to dictate norms, models, roles, and responsibilities, as well as duties.
This is the over-arching dilemma with modern autocratic control taking root in the US, and why there has been a recent(Nov 2016) backlash. Totalitarianism, feudalism, fascism, and to some extent progressivisim all seek an external means of controlling not just the expressions, but the very thoughts of the masses. This fundament is the antithesis of the American Way, which was so boldly expressed in the Declaration. Maybe a re-reading of our Declaration for those not of this country would have probative value. There are some few places around the world where the external control of the masses is lauded, and approved. North Korea, Cuba, red China, and some parts of the ME come to mind as areas where any kind of contemporaneous expression about the failings of a society are not only forbidden, but in some cases worthy of incarceration, and even death.
Should we emulate those cultures? Should we worship, or admire, or advance a narrative that is driven by the writings/speech/dictates of a Chairman Mao? Shall we all start carrying a Little Red Book? Is the answer in the glory of Kim Jong-un, as expressed in all facets of NK as a nation? Maybe we should take lessons from the Saud's, and truly place women as a second class group? No driving, no leaving the house without a male relative, no hand-holding, no looking directly at a stranger, no showing of the hair, eyes, or the legs above the ankle. Is this where we want the US to go? Banning in any free-media any and all reference to comedy which may, possibly, in any way or form offend?
Is there now, or should there be a national protection from being offended? A new bill of right: No person(s) shall offend any other person through actions, words, glances, looks, signals, writings, or otherwise. hmmmm
Someone telling another person that a joke is (in their opinion) in bad taste has nothing to do with Maoist China, Totalitarianism, feudalism (do you even know what feudalism is?), fascism, or even progressivism. Having an opinion isn't Communism.
How has the Pre-Trump government been taking autocratic control in any way that is related to the discussion at hand? Or is this just a way to somehow thump the table with a meaty hand and say "GET OFF MY LAWN".
People can agree or disagree on what is in "good taste". Those of you who are backlashing against someone saying "it's in bad taste" or equivalent are really overreaching.
No government is telling you to stop. So this CLEARLY isn't a freedom of speech issue.
The Declaration of Independence refers to the Despotism of the State. What part of "This joke is in bad taste" is despotism of the state?
The government isn't here saying what can be said.
The moderators aren't even here telling you want you cannot say. And this is a privately run site, so they COULD tell you what you can and can't say here and delete your account if they wanted to (they don't).
There is no "right to be not offended", in fact this is a talking point often used by the Right ... aimed typically at students (individuals) who are coercing universities to adopt policies. In other words, not a government (again). Republicans have a right to dislike the overly-protective world asked for by university students (I think it's a bit ridiculous at times too). But it's not a freedom of speech issue until there's a LAW. Which isn't the case here. It's all overblown reactionary hyperbole if you ask me.
I am not offended by the initial joke. I believe in free speech. I also believe in the right of a pub owner to tell someone to take their conversation elsewhere, and the right of other patrons to ask them to do the same. That's all that's happening here. Take your noise over to the Off Topic section.
I'm frankly
not surprised
that certain types of people like to categorize anything they don't understand or agree with as "soy eating", "wimp", "Orwellian", "fascist", "political correctness", "SJW", etc. The discourse between folks has become nastier since 2016. I long for the days of George HW Bush and Reagan before him, where while one could disagree on whether their policies were good or bad (the Left hated them, I voted for them), but most didn't think they were evil men, people didn't say "YOU ARE WHAT'S WRONG WITH AMERICA" for someone saying "I don't think this joke is in good taste".
Meh, unsubscribing. I was hoping the moderators would move this thread.
Who mentioned Communism? If you were asking me, yes I know what feudalism is. In fact - likely a lot better than you. (here we go with the 'you' and 'I' mischigoss). Just state your case, and let it stand on its merit. If you want to critique and take your ball and leave the game:
You Tube
And now for something completely different:
why did the cowboy get a pet dachshund?
.
.
He heard his buddy say get along little dogie!
disclaimer: no animals were hurt in the telling of this joke
Some still dont get it. Jokes are a matter of taste. You cant legislate or regulate taste. I didnt think it very was funny, but the over reaction was totally entertaining.
Oh.....it's a gavel. Never did know what that one was. I thought it was a little guy (or woman, so as not to offend) waving the "debris on track" flag or something.
Thanks for clearing that up Scott. Now I feel as though I've learned something useful from this thread.
That would be red and yellow. If this
were
a flag - it's brown. I'm sure you know what that implies. Don't want to trigger any of our more sensitive readers by spelling it out...
I think it comes down to there being 3 kinds of men
1. Those who beat their wives
2. Those who think jokes about beating wives are funny
3. Those who don't
I never intended to quell jokes or surpress free speech ( that part is hard to do when you're not a government ) freedom of speech is enshrined in our charter of rights and freedoms , and is important .
i just wanted to point out that such jokes didn't make this a welcoming community for women and could lead to this forum turning into so many others . More about being polite than anything . Much like I wouldn't swear in church or while volunteering at the elementary school sports day . I was attacked for that and felt the need to explain I wasn't some sjw keyboard warrior , but rather a combat veteran and former first responder whose experience influenced his decision to speak up . I really didn't think this would blow up like this .
I'm an active PCA member , women are a huge part of that community , even holding chapter executive positions and writing technical articles and generally making it the great family community for Porsche enthusiasts that the club is.in the two Canadian PCA chapters I've belonged to , 25% of the cars were owned by women , and even more jointly owned and driven. There are some very fast women at the track days . Women buying Porsches are part of the reason why Vancouver is second only to Los Angles in North America for Porsche sales , with new dealerships about to open on the island too.
Ive learned a lot from this thread, the divisions we see on news from south of the 49th make a lot more sense now.
i guess I should thank both sides for that learning .
Im going back to working on cars now .
Another graduate of a prestigious Comedic school. Good comedy? So you'll be able to tell us what's OK to laugh at, right?
The portion highlighted is really something. Those wishing to control thoughts and dictate what we can and cannot laugh at are the ones spreading the poison.
Again - you have missed the point. Attempting to control thoughts, acceptable speech, what can be considered humor, are all infringements on our rights as free thinking humans. Continuous and further infringements on our freedoms move us closer to Fascism. Maybe that's what you and your kind want. Big Brother will look over you, provide for you, and dictate what you are allowed to think and say. That was Doc's point. It clearly went over your head.
As a PCA member, you should know, or maybe not - that membership is heavily representative of, and largely influenced by men. Maybe that's why I'm not a member. Seems to be the modern iteration of the 'old boys club'. I would take a wild stab and say that individual female membership (not 'affiliate' or 'family' member, wife of husband member) is less than 15%. Anyone from PCA want to confirm or refute?
Yes, we're having a bit of dust-up down here with 'tribal' divisions(were I a native American, I might choose to take offense at that, but nah - let it slide). More or less boils down to; individual liberty vs mass control from a bureaucratic central committee. And by control by central committee, I mean completely and totally eliminating gasoline powered conveyance by legislative restriction. And what does that mean? No - more - Porsches(unless of course, they are plug-in hybrids)! You go socialist! Utopia is right around the corner, visit Venezuela and see for yourself.
Jesus, trying to follow the logic here is excruciating (<-- my demonstration of inoffensive humor).
Something like IF '
no wife beating jokes
' THEN '
communism/fascism/socialism
' END (probably 'no wife beating jokes' will mark the end of 'gasoline powered conveyances' too!! you librul/commie bastards!).
This is the 'old boys club' at work. Fortunately father time is ceaselessly working on the ultimate solution. Tick tock.
You mentioned three notorious communist states that you compared to ... someone saying a joke was in bad taste.
You compared feudalism which describes a social system in which different tiers of people have different rights and roles and which was enforced by threat of death , to someone saying a joke was in bad taste.
Who is overreacting, Mr Snowflake? Is your right to be not offended getting attacked? I mean, you did compare someones opinion about a joke being in poor taste to some of the most brutal and deadly regimes of the last 70 years. Seems like you were offended and you want to prevent that and attack others through histrionics.
I just want this bull**** moved to the correct forum where you can get all offended all day long at people you disagree with.
If you don't like what's on this forum or sub-forum, or what I write, you can(I thought you did) remove yourself from the thread, or the sub-forum, or just add me to the ignore list. Why should we have the lively discussion about a Porsche being crashed by a wife taken away? Control yourself, not others.
Look at you, falling back on a technical difference between communism as a theory and the states that practiced their own systems that were labeled as communism by themselves.
You are deflecting.
There is no desire for a central authority when an individual expresses an opinion. Again you sidestep the argument. You make up straw men, and knock them down in an attempt to look like the smartest guy in the board. And you are nothing of the sort.
And while I think the joke is in bad taste, my entire reaction has been joke threads go elsewhere and also to defend against the baseless statements against others.
Go back and reread post #17 amd #20 both were trying to exert control over this forum and its members and infringe on free speech in the name of taste and preference.
Dance around it, prose about your military service, blame others, but your words are diversionary at this point.
It is Orweliian, soy laden, socialist group think at best. You literally think you know best how everyone should behave and act at all times. It was a bad joke, but this behaviour is far worse and it is anti-American.
I served too. Im not using it as a crutch to excuse my own behavior though. Im not going to thank you for your service and bow down to your bad logic. I dont want any thanks for mine either.
And if this wasnt a public forum, Id tell you in real clear words what kind of person you really are. You two are still trying to control this topic by attacking everyone with a different opinion.
The joke was bad, the attempt to label everyone that chuckled at it as a wife beater or someone that supports battering wives is atrocious. Then hiding behind your military service or any other excuse afterwords is doubling down on stupid.
Care to up the ante again?
I served so people can say whatever they want no matter what it is. Its called defending The Constitution. Bad things happened to those women abroad because of their culture, laws and very likely religion. Denounce that; dont blame me or anyone else for it. But youre too much of a coward to denounce it; youd rather sit in comfort behind your computer and blame me for it. There are words for people like that, but typing them here will get me in trouble.
Im done with this steaming pile of Orwellian crap. Have a nice day.
You still don't get Orwell. Rennlist isn't the government. Neither is the person who thinks it's in bad taste. Nobody was banned, no joke or post was edited by the moderators, NOTHING. "Orweliian, soy laden, socialist group think at best" . What's Orwellian about it? What does "soy laden" mean? What is socialist about it (there's been no redistribution of wealth here).
Do you even know what those words mean?
Up until yesterday I had nobody on my Ignore list. Now there are many. Buh-bye.
Free speech protects you from the government infringing on your speech. The government has no power here. If this site wants to allow this or not allow that it is up to them, they are in no way infringing on your rights. I see this all the time on Facebook when posts get taken down, Facebook or any other public forum has no obligation to allow you to say whatever you want to say.
Soy is an expression in far-right circles to describe men that have become feminized (aka the oestrogen found in soy or something). Its a hidden insult of sorts, started on 4-chan and MRA forums. Thus my initial reaction.
I wonder if we can learn anything from history:

Some also created controversy. Is the word "blonde" offensive, I don't know, it applies to both men and women.
Or go through all of them on Rennlist:

Not deflecting, baiting. And - it appears to have been rather successful. Your chain has very little resistance.
And while there is no DIRECT desire for central authority, there certainly is a wish by those who don't like the commentary to have it closed, moved, banned, or some other supplication to authority here(IB, our venerable hose, er - I mean 'host'(sarcasm again)). No one minds your opinion. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has them and they all stink. We mind when you think that your totalitarian framed opinion should hold greater sway over those who run this board, than those of us who have a more Laissez-faire approach(non-economic). In summary, you don't want to just have 'an opinion', you want someone at IB/rennlist to take action. Move, delete, ban, etc.
BTW, I'm pretty sure you are going to get your
desire
(strange verbiage, but whatev) fairly soon. Or - maybe the mods have all gone on holiday.

I'm with Vancouver on this one. Personally, a lot of the behavior on this site turned me off to buying a Porsche if this the way you guys act. I'd rather not be associated with the image of it.
