I had the pleasure of putting a deposit down on this car; however, before taking delivery I insisted it be inspected by an independent Porsche mechanic.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To Whom It May Concern: I figure that anybody who's going to buy a used 2002 911 Targa would find their way to this site eventually. This posts applies to anybody who purchased a 2002 911 Targa from "The Toy Store" (otherwise known as "Prestigious World Class Motors") in Stamford, Connecticut. The car's VIN is WPOBA29982S635283 This car was labeled as being in "excellent condition, both cosmetically and mechanically." I had the pleasure of putting a deposit down on this car; however, before taking delivery I insisted it be inspected by an independent Porsche mechanic. What this mechanic found was that the car needed a brand new clutch (apparently the previous owner did not know how to drive a standard transmission). This car also had a material leak main seal . These repairs alone will cause you much heartach - the clutch alone is minimum $3,000. The salesman ("Chris") is about as sleazy as they come. I honestly could have stuck this guy with a horrible trade, resulting in a net dollar loss to himself. It was only because I found a nicer car that I allowed him to snake his way out of the deposit. BUYER BEWARE!!! This car isn't worth nearly what you paid for it. Good luck, whoever you are...
