Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all I gave my car (2003 996 C4S) for DE tech and brake flush/clutch flush. WHen I received the car back I noticed the following which are different from baseline. As I start to apply pressure on the top of the pedal there is 0.5 inch of play. The engagement point has moved lower instead of it taking place at the higher end. The resistance feel is like baseline except for the first half inch. The clutch was changed out in June (whole clutch kit). I did maybe 9 DE days without any issues. I drove the car since that time including prior to giving it for service and the clutch was great. I just gave the car for a clutch/brake flush and now this. The brake pedal feels fine. I am not sure what is up with the pedal. All the gears engage fine, no grind or any issues. The lower engagement is causing my heel toe to be completely off. Insight would be very helpful as my DE is up this weekend.

POST 2Original post

Does the pedal still comes all the way up and there is half inch of free play?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fixed pedal came up all the way every time. The free play remained. Long story short, I went back to shop and the system was rebled with motive bleeder. First pump had the pedal back to it’s original feel and air bubbles exited from the bleeder nipple.

POST 4Original post

Over the years I have never been completely successful in bleeding any hydraulic clutch without a pressure bleeder.
